It's a submarine roguelike like you can play with your friends!

- Explore a randomly generated ocean filled with treasure
- Fight a giant squid
- Scream at your friends to repair a hole
- Drown

8/10

Early Access Review
Effective. Fun. Free.

My goal was to go from low Gold to high Platinum in Valorant. Peaked at Diamond 1 and hovered around Plat 2 most of the time. Aim Lab was very solid for a warm up and training. I also put a similar amount of time in to Kovaak and honestly I prefer aimlabs, Kovaak works about as well but gets stale quick, AimLab is dynamic enough to keep me interested and has an overall more professional feel. Over 3 months of using both regularly I could feel myself improving the most with AimLab.

The statistics in this game that shows you what you need to work on is accurate as far as I can tell and makes it enjoyable to try and target those weaknesses. The part of my brain that likes slot machines lights up every time it shows me my hits and misses. Also the game can be very zen, it's easy to load up 5 rounds of gridshot and zone out on shooting while talking on discord.

The game is free, try out the aim assessment. Then 10 minutes of playing before each FPS session will certainly improve your aim.

This game has the potentially to be WAY better than Among Us or anyother imposter game, but falls short in a few places.
Don't get me wrong I adore the game and have had a lot of fun in it, but much of the mechanics in the game are either un-intuitive or just broken. (Though the game has come a long way since I first played it. Let's get in to it.

Pros:
It's FREE! Amazing deal for the content packed in. This game honestly should be worth at least $5, I would've paid more.

It has an actually horrifying shapeshifting imposter! This sci-fi thriller mechanic is the best part of the game and sets it apart from any other game like this (Among Us, Town of Salem) being in first person looking your friends dead in the eyes as they turn in to a petrifying alien and devour you is LEAGUES above whats in any other imposter based game.

Proximity chat makes for really cool atmosphere and intense moments with the monster, not knowing if your friends are alive or dead if you hear them screaming down the hall.

Tons of cool maps. Not everyone is a winner but each one targets a specific sci fi or horror niche and most of them nail it perfectly, games rarely feel repetitive. Not to mention the random location of objectives makes every game feel like a hunt.

The immersion is incredible, all the points above play in to this. The lighting sound effects and environments provide one of the best science fiction experiences I've had in gaming. I personally have hurt my throat because I screamed in REAL GUT TURNING FEAR when the spaceman I spent most of the game with transformed and chased me out an airlock. The graphics aren't revolutionary but obvious care went in to the feel of this game and it shows.

Cons:
First person shooter mechanics makes this game hard to approach for someone who does not have a handle on control, and many of the controls do not feel intuitive. A few friends of mine who enjoyed among us couldn't get a handle on the shooting, doing tasks, jumping, power ups and perks. It took even experienced gamers a bit of time to understand how to play the game even after doing the tutorial. The game is complex in the wrong places.

Proximity voice chat while fun, is broken often. There is no option to change mic input the game will always choose your default and the game needs to be restarted after changing the default. We spend up to 30 minutes in a lobby trying to get every ones voice set up.

Easy to fall out of the map, clip somewhere, get stuck. The movement in this game is a little scuffed at the moment. Moving and jumping feel fine for the most part but from time to time I will get stuck or get shot through a door and so on.

OVERALL:
This game has a lot of potential. I love the gameplay. I love how it looks, feels and sounds. My friends and I have had many unforgettable moments in Unfortunate Spacemen. I think you should play this game, it's free and you don't have much to lose. Bear the headaches of this game and enjoy the great horror sci-fi experience crafted for you

Among Us is a hyper popular and essentially boils down to a mobile game that costs $5. I believe it's popularity came because of the state of the world in 2020. Many of are isolated from friends and social interaction, the way this game plays paired with a global pandemic made for the perfect storm to become the giant that it is.

Pros:
The game is perfect to play with friends and can make for those classic social deception and deduction moments. Simple design makes it approachable for non gamers, for me it allowed my game savvy friends and not so savvy friends to play together.

Cons:
Game is buggy when it comes to getting in to lobbies.
Playing with randoms is awful so you'll need to find a group of friends to play with over discord or otherwise.

Overall:
The game is worth the ads to play on your phone, maybe not $5 but it's got major meme potentially and will likely be culturally relevant for a long time.

The game is JUST SO FUN, come for the tight rogue-like mechanics stay for the heart wrenching story of family trauma.

10/10 I want to kiss every character.

A VR battle royal that does it right.

Pros:
The shooting feels pretty good and is better than a lot of VR shooting.

The game runs very very well on a moderate/low PC VR set up and flawless on mid to high specs which is a major plus!

Intuitive controls that are easy to pick up and feel great when you get a hold of them. climbing, flying and shooting feel so great together! The movement feels so good that it could be it's only VR title. I often have more fun climbing and flying around than actually getting in to fights.

Cons:
Limited map and players. The map and player size is significantly smaller than a non-VR battle royal. This is to be expected but the areas are not diverse and buildings repeat enough to make the small map fairly uninteresting

Quest users. The game is full of kids getting a quest for the first time and it's frustrating to get someone completely fresh to VR every 3 games.

Building. I don't think building has a place in this game. I rarely see people actually using it let alone using it to battle. This felt like a Fortnite feature tacked on.

Expensive. An issue with lots of VR games is that they are priced more than their worth. I don't think adding VR to a battle royal is groundbreaking enough to have that price, I have friends hesitant to buy this over VR games in the same price area.

Overall:
The game is fun I recommend it especially if you have some mates to play with. I will be playing more but I think it's too expensive.

Honestly this was my first experience to VR on playstationVR. Even with PSVR I still found beatsaber to be one of the most amazing times I've had while gaming. I would think about it all the time.

Eventually when I got VR for my PC and could download mods, this amazing gem of a game RAMPED UP! Custom songs and sabers is fabulous! I can really dive deep in to my favorite songs. Let me tell you some pros and cons

PROS:
-The game is like fruit ninja mixed with guitar hero. Perfect for a casual gamer or pro rhythm hero

-The base music selection is great but mods make for an unlimited amount of songs. Really easy to make levels too (maybe not good ones though haha)

-Great party game. Even my Mom could pick this one up and understand it.

-Makes you feel epic sword fighter / danger. Even though in reality you look like a baboon on cocaine

Cons
-UI is a little janky and ugly

-Every update breaks the mods for a few days

-You need a good enoug rig to play, frame drops are really game ruining

Summary
If you are thinking about getting VR or already have VR you have to have this game.

This is quite possibly the best game ever created.

Pros:
The mechanics are so well designed that once you get the hang of one you are on to a new one. The game iterates on itself making the progression amazing and smooth. Never a dull or repetitive moment with just enough time with each new game element.

The environments are crafted so beautifully and detailed making it an absolute blast to check ever corner of the game. I played switching between medium and low graphics and still found the game to be breathtakingly beautiful.

The story is so gripping and if you're a Half Life fan you will be satisfied beyond a doubt. The characters are amazing, the dialog is done so professionally I truly became immersed the characters of this world.

Cons:
Parts of the game feel more like I am on a roller coaster as in I am just being railroad-ed from scene to see to look around as if I'm on a ride instead of immersed in a game world. Though these moments are sparing and are in stark comparison to the rest of the game in which I feel like I have more autonomy and freedom.

Much of the game takes place in claustrophobic narrow halls and rooms. This I'm sure is to lend to an easier VR experience with everything being close enough for you to see and grab with little movement needed. However I would've liked some more open and less suffocating areas.

Summary:
My minor nit picks don't even come close to taking away the overall experience of the game. The emotions I felt playing this game are beyond what gaming or any other media has done to me before. This is the future of gaming and I feel like we've barely scratched the surface of what can be done on this medium. Half Life: Alyx is a revolutionary game and I will not soon forget it. I will likely play it a over again a few more times before the end of 2020
