I might change my mind at a later date, but for right now: I do not think this game is for me.

Void Stranger is a game about pushing blocks around. It's a sokoban game. It has a story. That's basically the entirety you can say about it, without it being something of a spoiler. I think, inherently, this is one of the biggest problems with the game.

If the story does not absolutely grip you, or if you find the sokoban action/puzzle design a chore getting in the way of the story itself that you like, then you will not like this game at all. I think that not enough people bring this up when it comes to this game. A lot of people talk about how great it gets by the end, or how great the story is, but at the end of the day, if you cannot vibe with playing hundreds of sokoban levels to get to the meat of the game, this game does very little to push you towards forgiving it. In fact, it arguably works against you.

Or maybe this is all just a personal problem, who knows.

i then proceeded to have literally no idea where i was supposed to go, and then being told that literally any base game content (i'm not gonna buy the dlc right now because i'm not gonna spend money on something I don't know if I like) that has story is just completely gone.

if you're brand new, prepare to be completely confused on what to do, where to go, etc. without having people help you.

It sure is a card game.

Decently well polished game, with fun mechanics, however I refunded it.

The reason for that is simple: Flying Wild Hog, or Devolver, or both, are asking fifty dollars for a 5 hour long game. By the time I stopped and refunded it, I was probably already about halfway through the campaign, which was extremely linear to the point of comedy.

Linear games can be fine, however there's apparently no replayability basically whatsoever. If you beat the game on hard, congrats, there's nothing else to do. That's fifty buckaroos.

Along with this, the difficulty. I was playing on medium, and it felt... off. I died maybe twice in my two hours of playing to enemies. I had died probably a dozen times in general, mostly because in some areas it's very easy to fall off the map and die. Or in the case of one area, run over a section and instantly die.

Would I recommend this? If it was $30, yeah. At $50 however, there's much better games that will give you just as much fun, or more, and more for your money.

I got this game for four cents, and I honestly feel like four cents is still too much for this game.

Have no mistake, I'm not right wing at all. But this game is heinously unfunny. This game has about the same amount of wit as a liberal on twitter going off on "Drumpf". Get it, he's yellow because he's yellow (actually orange or something) in real life! And his hair comes off! Just like in real life! xD!

On top of that, this game has exactly as much jank as you'd expect from a $2 unity game, while not on sale this game goes for $5. That's a heinous ripoff, even by my low low standards. On top of this jank, there's also ludicrously tight timing windows for some of the levels which requires absolute perfection in order to beat the level. For example, there's a level during the Mexican Wall area where you have to jump over several barrels, in a row, with janky controls, and then tackle Trump. Also you have to get every front flip over the barrels perfectly in order to have half a second to actually tackle him. It's ludicrous.

People, if you have $.04, or even $2, or even $5, don't waste your time or money with this game. Like someone else said, just watch a youtube video of someone playing it. Or for $5, buy Phantasmagoria 2 on steam. That is much more worth your money.

Man I shouldn't be posting a review when I haven't even finished the first actual ending yet, but I feel like this is neccesary.

This game launched today. I got out of bed at roughtly 10 am. I started playing around 11.

Since then I have logged almost 11 and a half hours on this game.

I haven't fallen in love with a game this much since I had played MGS V for the first time. The gameplay is very smooth and polished, just like the platinum games we all know and love. Within the first couple bosses, you get the same amount of Yoko Taro oddness that you've come to know and love from his previous games. Along with that, since it is by Yoko Taro, the plot is absolutely riveting, with rapid fire twists and turns before you finish your first game.

If you have $60 in your entertainment budget lying around, I highly recommend this gem of an RPG. You will not regret it.
