TL:DR is at bottom.

Somewhat Upsetting "bugs": The game at the moment is REALLY rough around the edges, building is kind of a pain because placement snapping is a little goofy and is really picky about where you're standing and where you are looking. You also cannot as of the moment pick up things you built, only demolish, and demolishing an object/structure is sometimes with diminishing returns. An example would be a wall costs 3 wood, sometimes you get 3 wood back, sometimes 2, sometimes 1. Any collectible items/furnishings you find are completely destroyed when "demolished". So better be happy where you place them. So far, all objects HAVE to have a foundation under them to place them unless it's very specific things like defenses and such. Can't have a planter box on the dirt, can't have a pump, smelter, or cooker on the dirt. (Some might argue the game somewhat "implores" you to build on the water itself to make up for most of these issues. More building room, more choices etc. etc. Trees respawn when relogging which is a HUGE mess to clean up if your base was built where trees spawn. They break and fly all over the place. A fun "bug" in my opinion though is the ability to sit on a boat and push it, allowing you to almost hit mach 1, especially if friends are pushing it too, in the same direction of course. (Honestly I hope they keep this as a toggle-able option when starting a game.)

Missing things you'd expect: Stairs, ramps, slopes, half-walls. The roadmap says they are coming but I'm writing this as review of the game of my play so far so it may change.

Balancing: I feel personally the game lacks when it comes to storage/stacking as stacks of wood go only to 20, and scrap metal to 10. You can see the issue here as these two materials are primary crafting ingredients and will fill slots very very quickly. The dedicated wood/scrap storage containers only hold three stacks of their respective items. A barrel can hold a 5x5 grid? I could be a little off but you get the picture, basically you can have 1 barrel in the place of three or more scrap/wood storage racks. And they are considerably cheaper to make too. Personally I'd say to make stacks a much larger quantity, get rid of the dedicated scrap/wood storages or make them hold an far more than any other container in the game to make use of it more often.

Good thoughts: The Co-op is incredibly seamless and built into steam server integration which makes it super easy for friends to get together and play. The crew on the discord page is highly interactive and always looking through bug reports as well as suggestions. Half of my complaints are already written down as well as many more I didn't cover in this review. So they seem to be constantly improving and taking notes from the community which is always a plus in my book, customers who feel heard feel well taken care of. Even more so if these complaints are actually encountered and made right. Buy this game if you want to be part of the early seeds sown and of a growing community.

Bad thoughts: This could just be another grab-n-go where the dev makes a half decent game, seems super involved and just leaves the game in a horrible state and disappears with all the cash. Don't buy this game yet if you are worried about this. Wait a while.

TL:DR - Game has a lot a of bugs, can look really pretty, has base building and resource management and can be a lot of fun with friends. It's basically Rust/Raft/Fallout 4 all mashed up. No dedicated server is required to play with friends. Buy it if you're willing to toss 20 dollars away, don't if you're worried the dev won't continue to take care of it. Wait a while and see if it improves.

Land on new planet, build house, get farm going, get animals, build bigger base, buy people from slave trade to have more colonists. Freed slaves are happy, one slave is a pyromaniac. Pyromaniac mentally breaksdown, sets fire to battery room, battery room explodes instantly killing the pyromaniac and destroying all walls nearby. The inside temperature immediately rises to over 400 degrees Fahrenheit cooking all colonists to a crisp. Main character mentally breaks down seeing wifes corpse turned to burnt human jerky. Eats her. Runs outside and gets mauled by a tiger. Quit game, delete save, new game, land on planet.

I don't have time these days to play a game, I got work, family, friends, things around the house to do. Finally, with Vampire Survivors I can launch it up, pick Poe, and the game plays itself. All I have to do is come back once in a while to check the upgrades I've gotten.

(TLDR at bottom)

The Single-player is amazing, the details, the atmosphere, the dark clouds that roll in when a storm approaches and the distant crashes of thunder. Over the horizon a change in the sky's color, a deep blue as rain starts to fall in the distance. The snow on your boots gathering more and more as you take each step. The single-player is by-far unbeaten by any recent single-player game I have played. And Arthur, no better character to be the flag-ship of a series and no-one better than John Marston to carry that torch after him. But with all this said, screw Rockstar and screw GTA Online as well as anyone who still plays it. Red Dead Online players were told that the single-player was to not receive any more DLC or updates as they were to focus on the Online portion. And honestly speaking for myself and some of the others in the community, we were okay with that. Arthur and John had their run. Here we are 4 years later and the best they could do is 4 new roles to make money, which require about 40 hours of grinding just to unlock in the first place. Two of them aren't even worth it for income but are decently fun, the other two are god-awfully boring and pay out the most. Oh and we got a few new coats and dumb looking hats that cost $300+ which you know, might take you five bounties just to get. Which you know, takes about 2 hours because for some reason the bounties pay more if you take LONGER. Oh god and don't even get me started on the cheaters. I cannot say this enough, boycott Rockstar. They will release another flying car update for GTA Online and put out another stupid half-assed baked remaster of their classics before they ever update Red Dead Online or release info on the next GTA.

TLDR: Buy it for singleplayer. Otherwise have fun spending 40+ hours just to have decent gear in Online just to get exploded by a hacker anyway.

Ah, Valheim. I decided to pick up Valheim seeing it came out very recently. I didn't want to wait around until reviews about it started appearing everywhere. I wanted to be a kid again, I wanted to pick out a game that looked really cool and dive in with not a single clue what the game was about except somewhat Viking-ish. Oh boy was it worth it. Running around trying to figure out what does what and how to do something more efficiently and finding new things is the best part about Valheim. You can build your own home and although it's not super indepth, just make sure your fire place has a chimney because yes, you can die from smoke inhalation.
