Short and simple review:

Overwatch 1&2 are good games at the core. But Blizzard is a horrendous and evil company that only cares about fueling it's corporate greed and investors. "Cancelled" PvE gamemode before releasing it anyway. PvE was stripped down to the most basic story and PvE functions I've ever seen in a AAA title. First mission is free, $15 minimum for the rest????

Don't waste your time. I want to say have fun because the game can be fun. But don't support Blizzard. Vote with your wallet and time. Maybe one day I'll recommend this game is Blizzard changes and this game is still running but...unlikely.

The campaign was honestly rad. I enjoyed it immensely. However most people don't play Call of Duty games for the campaign so lemme be brutally honest. And TL:DR DO NOT PAY $70 FOR THIS GAME. Far from worth it. I bought it when I had disposable income and to play it with friends. But in hindsight this game is not great for a $70 product.

VV Full Review VV

-The gun play in Modern Warfare 2 - 2023: It feels great until it doesn't. Hit registration is seemingly a coinflip at best. It's very rare a gun is consistent. I could not tell you what qualifies as a head shot in this game because you can aim at someones head. Shoot. And it's counted as body.

-The net code or servers: This game 100% favors those who play aggressively. If person A is sprinting, and jumps around a corner, they will see person B well before the other way around. The amount of times I've been killed seemingly instantly from someone jumping out from a corner cannot be counted. Meanwhile their kill cam shows that they were out for easily 2-3 more seconds than what I saw on my end. Mind you I've got a 165hz refresh rate monitor and a 3090ti to back up those frames.

-Aim assist: I agree that console or controller players will need some form of assistance when playing against players on mouse and keyboard. But the amount of aim assist featured in this game for console players is borderline Aimbot rather than "aim assist". I've seen several instances in the last week of players aiming and tracking my near perfectly just because the game did it for them. Meanwhile, I get no compensation for being on mouse and keyboard. It's reached a point where it gives console players an unfair advantage and just feels bad for a $70 product.

-Playlists: You can thankfully like the other games, set your own playlist. How ever, the game for what ever reason will change YOUR OWN playlist to have gamemodes the Devs want to make you play. I'm constantly having to take out the 3rd person/over the shoulder game modes.

Now we're getting into personal gripes:

-Riot shields: They suck. They are indestructible and if the play crouches, makes them basically invulnerable from the front. The exception being drill charges, thermite grenades and maybe launchers. They serve little to no purpose and need a re-work. I feel like making the glass break after X amount of damage or at least get filled with cracks to obscure vision after a while.

-The UI: is honestly awful. They treat DMZ, Warzone and MW2 as 3 different games so the "main menu" isn't really the "main menu"

Now for a more positive note:

The game feels smooth. The animations are great with few problems. When everything is going well, the game feels great. The gun play is actually nice when it registers properly. Customization is also really good, improving upon what 2019 Modern Warfare had.

Ultimate opinion:

This game has many moments that feel great. It's fast paced. It's good looking. The animations and guns are amazing. But it leaves so much room for improvement and has much that leaves you asking why.

I cannot recommend ANYONE pay the outrageous asking price of $70. This game is not good enough to justify that price tag. Let alone the fact that they still sell a battle pass and have a bunch of cosmetic packs you can also purchase.

So again, DO NOT BUY THIS AT FULL PRICE. Honestly save your money. Support a different company. Buy different cheaper games.

This game is amazing. It's a really solid, arcade-y feeling horde shooter. It's seriously refreshing to see a good game launched at a respectable price. For $25 you get hours of fun. I highly recommend purchasing this.

I played during a free to play event and I must say this game is a massive disappointment. I will not recommend purchasing this title until they fix some glaring issues with the game. I'll go more in depth below but don't buy this game for anything more than $20. Not worth it considering the competition.

I'll start with the upsides to the game from what I noticed.

Pros:
-The actual gun play is decently fun and easy to pick up.

-The graphics are very nice.

-Voices for characters, narrators and other players are clean and easy to hear even over the massive amounts of chaos.

-The weapon customization is actually really smooth in game.

Cons:
-There are way too many options in the first time start up. They could remove easily 4-5 options from the "accessibility" page on the first start, to shorten the list to actual accessibility options.

-The Menu is absolutely awful in my opinion. It's big, it's bulky with lots of boxed or squared off shapes. It does not feel very nice to use.

-The New Player Experience, is clunky and hard to figure out. It throws you into a tutorial match that's supposed to teach you how to play, but it doesn't really do that. Not to mention it was buggy. My biggest issue as a new player was trying to figure out what game mode to play first. There aren't that many but each one claims "The core of battlefield" or "iconic/classic battlefield" which can be confusing! Where do you start for THE battlefield experience? Conquest? Rush?

-Border-less Full-screen works but BARELY. I have a 1440p monitor with a refresh rate of 165hz. But if I swapped to border-less, it locked my frame rate to 59.5 or 60. Why would it do that?

-HDR is set to "Auto" by default and cannot be changed. I have an HDR monitor, but don't want to use the HDR feature. Thankfully it didn't force it on, but I still take issue with the fact that "The game knows best" rather than what I the consumer want.

-Yet another Battle Pass. Really? This is one thing I will always say is a bad thing for games that are Pay to Play. You're already charging $60 for your game. Yeah yeah something about more money means longer life span. There are better ways to monetize a game rather than some battlepass that locks 30% or more of the content of a game behind a paywall that doesn't even guarantee getting the item you wanted from that "season". This is mostly my opinion mind you.

-Classes aren't special. Every class can seemingly do essentially the same thing as the other. With the key difference being a different piece of special equipment. All classes can revive others. All classes can use the same exact weapons. It's like putting a bunch of things into one big stew only for it to come out with a mild taste. Nothing special. Nothing really to keep your interest.

Final verdict:

I'm not saying don't give this game a try at all. But definitely wait for it to be on sale, or free to play for the weekend or something. It's far from being worth the original $60 listing price. If it was $40 then maybe? No matter how I look at it, compared to other shooters and prior battlefield games it just feels ultimately bland or stale. That being said, it wasn't a bad experience. It's fine for an arcade-y shooter and decent for passing time or playing something more casual than more competitive styled shooters like 2022/23 Modern Warfare 2.

If it's on sale for $25 or less, or it's a free to play event for a day or two: Absolutely try it. You might like it!

Otherwise, save your money.

This game is great. Never before did I think taking ships apart in space would be so much fun nor as terrifying as it can be at times in this game! I recommend giving it a try!

This is a very solid game when looking at what's already there. Great Gameplay, Great Graphics. But until 343 actually adds what they have been saying since before launch would be in the game, I cannot recommend anyone actually buy this game.

It's a real shame that 343 does not care at all for the game or it's community. The Majority of "Updates" for this game since launch have been new content packs to buy on the in game store or new battle passes of which you still have to pay for.

When I saw this game, and the description and trailers I immediately thought "Man this looks pretty cool! And it's really affordable!" I got this game on sale for $2.49 and while it was fun at first, it left way too much to be desired for me to play it any longer or stick with it for any reason.

Don't get me wrong. The idea for a fun game is there. But even with maps that have locomotion enabled, it still feels incredibly on the rails. Much like arcade games with those plastic point and shoot pistols that you pay like .25 cents to play, you have infinite ammo, limited health and can really only do so much through the entire mission.

This game is genuinely fun for a short amount of time. I'll list below currently the ups and downs I Personally Feel the game has.

Pros included in the game:
  • Fun reload mechanics
  • Easy to Grasp gun play
  • Good music
  • Co-op support
  • Reasonably Priced

Cons included in the game:
  • Guns are not as accurate as you. They have random spread instead of recoil
  • Poorly named guns in the store such as "SMG-11" or "Silenced Sniper Rifle"
  • No real reason for "progression" other than to customize your guns or buy new ones
  • Levels just feel uninspired or uninteresting. Maybe there are bigger better ones but the hour I played was very drab
  • Most levels you sit in small invisible boxes or area to defend.

To me, this game feels like it belongs under the "early access" section for steam games. As it's very small, and in my opinion currently in need of a lot more work. Not a bad game, just not for me for the reasons above. Genuinely hope to see this game improve, but right now I cannot recommend it.

TL;DR : I recommend the base game and legacy collection. But not the $114 in total DLC[/]

Now for my full opinion on the game and the company behind it.

Payday 2 is an iconic experience for a reason. It was and still is a very solid and engaging experience. From a top tier soundtrack, to fun and silly gameplay mechanics. This game just really scratches an itch that nothing else really does.

Much like everything though, it has ups and downs. Some things being great, while others are horrible.

The good

This game features hours upon hours of content that you can replay as many times as you'd like. The difficulty tier system makes sense and adds an actual sense of challenge even at higher levels of play. The majority of the heists feel unique and interesting, with small bits of lore and often secrets scattered about within most. The event heists are hilarious and great from what I've played. The gun play is a little basic but doesn't feel bad.

The story it features and the deeper lore is quite interesting. You feel like a part of the gang, watching everything progress. Both your money, gear and other things! You have freedom to pace out the story on your own terms, and the game makes it relatively easy to hope back on board with it.

Crime-net both online and offline is a cool idea. Random missions popping up at various difficulties in both, while still giving you the option to open up custom "contracts" or missions to choose the heist and difficulty you'd like.

The sound track is amazing. Packed with both absolute bangers and meme tracks, you'll likely not be bored of it for a good while.

The Bad

A lot of this will likely be highly opinionated. Meaning you or others may have different thoughts or opinions on the matters discussed.

The AI is...well it's downright awful. Pathing is completely busted, making it so AI will often take potentially SEVERAL seconds to think before just taking the most brain dead path imaginable. Example: You can tell a hostage to stand up, and follow you. Which often results in them standing in place for a moment, only to turn around and fairly often take a path other than the one with little complications, right in front of them.

Driving is just bad. You'd think a game made on a racing game engine would have well....better driving than what we got. I'm amazed it's still as bad as it is.

Borderless Fullscreen/Windowed = false. This feature does not exist within the game. It should by all means be within the game, and should have been for the last few years at the very least. If some random person can create a mod that adds the feature. Why can't the official devs?

The Ugly

DLC or Downloadable Content. Boy howdy does this game have a lot of it. Which really just...sucks.

Easily half or more of the games total content is locked behind DLC. The total arsenal you have access to without paying for anything more other than the base game is not great. Sure you get a fair amount! However, the game will constantly remind you that you don't have a certain pack. A ton of weapon mods are locked behind DLC. Most of the weapons are DLC. Several Heists are DLC. Do you really want to pay $115 for a game that came out in 2013? Even on sale, how much are you willing to spend on a 10 year old game that still has major issues?

Overkill years ago now, had released the "Overkill/Ultimate" edition of the game. Stating that it would contain EVERY paid DLC aside from the H3H3 pack. This was true. They also stated that every subsequent DLC afterwords for those who owned this "ultimate" edition of the game, would not cost any further payment or money.

They have since rescinded their statement regarding the ultimate edition and no more "paid DLC".

I paid for the ultimate edition. I expected the ultimate edition permanently.

Final Thoughts

As frustrated or even downright angry as I may be concerning the whole "DLC" fiasco, this game is still great. Overkill has put countless hours into making something that fans will remember for probably another decade. The game is genuinely fun and engaging, even more so with friends. So yes, even with the negative side of things, I highly recommend this game.

Overkill. While it is unlikely you'll see or read this review among the hundreds of thousands left by others. I want to say thank you. You've given me hundreds of hours worth of fun. Tons of memories with friends. Oh god the memes that came from this game are just hilarious. So again, thank you for all the hard work you put towards making this game. I very much look forward to Payday 3.

My personal thoughts:
This game holds a really cool concept. The idea of making use of various scripts(Either ones you made or didn't) to build up either a corporation or your in game notoriety, is honestly really cool. I loved the game "uplink" a game based around hacking for money from client orders. This game takes that idea but has you type in the commands manually unless you copy and paste them in. The Graphical User Interface(GUI) is stylized with a unique digital font and bright attractive colors. The music that plays in the background when nothing of interest is happening, is calm and relaxing. While when something important is happening IG: Hacking with hardline, the music picks up and becomes fast paced. All things that make the game very appealing to play.

What it's really like:
When you first start up the game you are pushed to make two new user accounts. Setting up things like a name and password for yourself. Each account will also give you a key pair to put in and verify yourself. It soon goes into the tutorial teaching you how to build basic strings using {} braces like these along with user or system scripts. The tutorial is well made in the sense that it makes you use your brain to pass. Lost all your money to a shady script? Try figuring out who took it or maybe even take it from dead accounts. It teaches you basic stuff like this, leading on into how it should actually play out in multiplayer. How ever, multiplayer is entirely dominated by bots which users have made. Scripts cost money, but you can't really get any money anymore unless you miraculously find a dead NPC account that has something left. Most free scripts are just for fun, and don't lead anywhere. Where the tutorial teaches you how to use certain scripts, it doesn't teach you anything on how to move forward in the multiplayer scene.

Ending statement:
All in all, this game has potential to be something fantastic. How ever until either a wipe or serious change takes place, I would advise saving your money.

Early Access Review
I am a huge quake fan. The feel of rushing down corridors with super strong guns at blazings speeds was always fun for me. I feel this game is getting a lot of hate for it's loot boxes. I can understand the anger towards such but they simply offer cosmetic differences. Character unlocking is not super hard but is time consuming. You can unlock characters by playing the game and earning in game currency or by purchasing them with real money. So I'll list off some pros and cons below.

PROS:
+Fast paced gameplay
+Balanced easy to use weapons
+Balanced easy to use characters with the option of more advanced play styles for each character.
+Beautiful graphics that are amazingly optimized
+Free to play

CONS:
-Poor matchmaking often means high ping
-most hit detection is client sided rather than server side
-Every character except for two are locked until you earn them by either playing for a long time or buying them
-Little gamemode variety as of yet (Probably more to come due to early access so take this with a grain of salt)

Over all the game feels very smooth and easy to pick up after a long day of work or even after waking up. The starting settings are designed to feel comfortable right off the bat, but offer greater customization for those who need it. I've enjoyed the game since I was young and would play split screen with friends. Seeing it revived like this has made me happy. All I can say in the end is that it's free to play. Give it a shot and if you don't like it don't play. Nothing lost nothing gained. But if you do enjoy it well not you've got another game to distract you from lifes problems.
