Early Access Review
As a veteran Smite(1) player this is disappointing to say the least.
I am sad about losing all the content I paid for over the years but even more devastated to lose my progress on my Gods, my masteries, achievements because lets be honest the second this game comes out from Beta the original will cease to exist shortly after.

It's tragic that Hi-Rez/Titan ,or whatever they are calling themselves these days as a company, shoot themselves on the foot on this one.
It'd be a great release premise to say "We are finally upgrading to Unreal Engine" as it was something the community always wanted to have a better running game. We just didn't got the rest of it.

I think most of us would be fine if they made the initial announcement was they would be giving Smite1 the Overwatch2 treatment; As in they update the game and making a merger of the older accounts/skins/content to the refurbished game over time if they really really wanted that release date for a beta. (if there''re sleazy shareholders holding ye Devs at gunpoint for monetary benefit before a good game, release another Bellona skin, then we'll send help)

They needn't even do it immediately as I believe most people would love to try the Beta in the meanwhile they would be working on the conversions over years (because lets be honest it's no simple thing to update a game with that much content to a new engine). Perhaps an (old) god porting/release and their content merger one by one and the community would be mostly happy with that as it would be reasonable. Perhaps new Smite2 exclusive skins as the old god arrivals&ports, events or polls for who should be added next for community integration.

But alas nothing of the sorts; The day I learned what Smite2 was actually going to be, it shattered my world. God knows I will not go to play *the alternative* as I was very fond of the 3rd person camera & skillshots instead of your average point&click madness in a MOBAs.

[On a technical standpoint, I'll point out it's still in Beta and some issues to be fixed for sure, yet the new game is running very poorly compared to the original, I am running a 4060 on my laptop and somehow Smite2 runs worse in it at all low graphic setting than my mid2high settings Smite1. It is jittery and awkward and really left a sour taste on top of everything else. Checked few maps, tutorials, UI and whatnot. It looks decent and I hope the new players are enjoying it, veterans might find it a bit awkward but we were no strangers to random UI overhauls so there's that.]

I don't think I'll play this one unless they'll make the merger a possibility. And stopped playing the other one since what's the point they'll drop it dead sooner or later. It just feels wrong to stay in love with a game that you know won't stay. Over a thousand hours and countless precious memories just to be lost because they needed to slap a number 2 on their title, what a waste...

Still not League of Legends tho (2/10 for veterans and) 7/10 for newcomers, stay away from buying gems <3.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update after more hours in the game:
My Gods the gameplay still feels the same if not more, it's awesome! Then I realised they removed Slash(the one killed Clash & Siege gamemodes,[ man... Clash was a fun map, more than Conquest if I'm being honest as a true casual 5v5 map]) This wasn't the Overwatch 2 treatment I was saying! Why remove maps!?! Hopefully they'll add it down the line :c

Managed to run the game smoother with different DirectX and graphics settings. Just mix and match until it sticks unfortunately I couldn't find no rhyme or reason between the performance fluctuations. Honestly, yea the high octane gameplay is still so enjoyable once the game runs smoothly.

Now years after being a brief league player, yes Smite is indeed more fun because all we have skillshots instead of point and clicks, dodging almost anything is possible. And this brings me to the new addition in the game. It may be a nightmare in league but in smite, "now everyone gets a dash" :D. I cannot believe how much fun the game became ever since I can just press shift for a short dash. Legacy gods don't feel out of pace anymore, juking and 1v1s were never been more fun and I didn't even realised this was something I desperately needed.

Imma also point out the new God "Aspects", they are like toggles that slightly alter the God's kit you can chose pre game. Honestly pretty unique concept and keeps the gods fresh and nurtures different playstyles so I appreciate it a lot.

Apparently now every god can build everything now. Unsure if this the most fun idea ever to try new cheesy builds, or an absolute nightmare to balance for Conquest/Competetive_Scene (I never partook but lets be honest all MOBASs are balanced around those kinda maps...) so it'll make the items feel weaker/unbalanced over time.

I was really a big fan of the Magical/Physical separation between Tanks-Mages/Brusers-ADCs-Assassins as being well versed in one class made your item knowledge applicable for the rest of the same damage type characters for different builds reliably. +Losing the ease for newcomers to build reliably but I'm way past that point.
So far the item balance feels really nice.

The VGS commands now have Gods' voicepacks by default (we used to purchase them separately), Thank you!
Still unsure if we have the emotes or not tho as they won't appear grayed like the past but can't use them either.

There were some charming things in Smite1 I couldn't found or maybe weren't implemented yet
-Typing a class or pantheon (ie "Mage" or "Egyptian") to quickly filter the search bar doesn't seem exist here. It was a really nice feature considering how many gods we had and great for quickly picking something for "Play X Class/Pantheon" Quests. At least adding those toggles to the filtering option would be great <3
-What happened to the character rotating at the game select? now I can't even properly look at skins of other people.

My Score's stil 7/10 loosing a few points for lacking old stuff and new appreciation for the freshly new. Still a fun game. Keeping the tick on "not recommended" because it's still uncool for Titan to shooting themselves on the foot by tossing away the legacy fanbase like this.

Possibly the closest thing if not better way to play a D&D campaign in PC. Game's extremely heavy on my hard drive yet every single byte counts:
Character sheets, whatever you want it to be
Everyone, fully voice aced
Every Playable Character, great and charming in their own way
Every choice, leads to a different ending

I can not stress the last part enough, I've never seen a game with this many alternative endings & and character arc conclusions in multiple alignments.
Bit difficult to get most character mileage if you'll play multiplayer for your first run, god knows we were 3 with one reliably built character and the rest for lore reasons.

Honestly I can not recommend this enough, Nat20+3Cha/10

I only played Overwatch (1) since it's beta at 2016 because it had Zenyatta & Zenyatta game-play.
It's my pleasure to tell you folk, Overwatch (2) also has Zenyatta & Zenyatta game-play as well!
There's nothing else in this game worth to mention; Unfortunately, we can't just recommend a game just overrode the original, changed it's entire composition system, matchmaking, team sizes and the kind of characters while alienating it's entire existing fanbase and delivering none of the PvE content promised on top of removing more features while adding nothing to the lore to this day. ( No, "We're putting back the team together" trailers deosnt work if there was no team we know of, you can't get away by implying it for the second time, fill the gaps, also ore Zenyatta lore for f*ck's sake it's been 7 years.)

I can't believe myself saying this but I missed the lootboxes as I figured it takes ages to fill out a Battle Pass.

Like I seriously, I gave the game another chance for the first time ever since they put that disgusting 2 on the logo (it was eye pleasing and symmetric why slap a 2 on it if it's put over the original ;_;) Overall, it's still playable on a casual level, but as you start to stack up those hours you'll start to see there's not much of content besides grinding for the same skins for hours on the same maps where you memorised their pros& cons all well.

2/10 because It has Zenyatta & Zenyatta game-play.

I've been playing this game since s1's end (laste 2014) and It's an absolute delight to play, after giving a chance to the other big name MOBAs in the past couple of years even more so.
I love it for many reasons but lemme list some big ones:

-When every character is broken, no one is, some do extra but who cares really.

-3rd person play feels super unique, also almost every skill in this game is a skill shot so no "I died from a point&click ability reeeeee"

-There's a clear divide between physical/magical item build trees and related classes. So a Hunter(adc) can't build magical damage and a Mage (mid) can't build physical damage. But many Guardian(tank) items can be brought on every class.

-On a related note, counterbuilding and item combination possibilites are out of this world, you can play meta or just go ham, if you know your character well enough dare I say you can play any character on any lane with any build/role. ADC Nu Wa? Tank Puch? Cocaine movement speed Guan Yu? Artillery Sylvanus? Full crit One Puch Man Mercury? A viable Osiris build? Immortal Lifesteal Ra? Possibilites are endless!

-So many fun game modes and there's one for everyone's liking. (I'll never stop playing Arena. RIP Clash&Siege but at least we have Slash now)

-UI customization is slick, colorblind mode is usable and I love the keymapping option (TIP: toggle a thumb mouse button to "toggle sprint" and thank me later)

-Unlocking gods don't feel much of a chore and rotations come in large variety, I'd say when you have like 10 characters you may want to invest in the Ultimate God pack. I've got it years ago and it's probably the best investment I've made #notsponsored. Anywho, just beware once you get it your chest rates will suck since skins only unlock for gods you have soaving every single one of them makes it difficult to open that one 200 item chest has one neat skin for your main.

-Getting gems (main currency for skin purchases) became easier as the years passed, you can buy a cheap skin if you log in a minute for less than a month, not to mention the events, quests and smite nights etc. I'm adding this because it used to be waaaay worse.

-VGS commands <3 For those who don't know Smite has limited in game communication, cute stuff like "Good Luck", "Have fun" by the start of every game or plain warnings like "Behind us", directions like "Attack Middle lane" is just enough to communicate but never using the chat in the process, this the least toxic moba I've ever seen

-Terminology is dead simple no weird camp names like the other games. Your mana is blue you get blue camp. More damage Red, lanes go as left&right middle jungle etc , towers hit and phoenixes reborn after you take them down. If you stuggle with builds or just play without a worry or thinking, there are guide settings saying/doing which skills to upgrade etc.

TL;DR Just play the game, It's fun (minus the herecy aspect ;p) and more the merrier. #stillnotsponsoredbutidontmindifyoudo

Excellent game, great mechanics and "immersive" gameplay. 10/10 go play it now.
I can't recommend because they didn't add multiplayer already and I'm afraid to swim alone or mod my games to do so.

My friends were recommending this game for a long time though I have zero background about fighting games.
It's a bit information dump at the start, in the middle and there's no end to learn unless you're japanese...

I've been getting beaten sensless the second I've booted the game, eventually I learned how to block and punish, now i'm getting beaten senseless even more 'cus my timing is worse than Heihachi's move set!

All that said you fight 1 on 1 so there's no team to drag down or feel sad about it, just get up after you fall and embrace the challenge. I don't take this game as seriously so your milage may vary.

I am in no way a competetive man but there's tons of great tools like punishment training to sharpen your reaction time and explore more combos if you're into that sort of thing.

In the end:
-Very anime main story
-With character voice lines sounds like anime dubs
-Tons of customization
-Many tools for practice
-Highly skill based, better player wins so everything feels earned
-Also high possibility to cheese your opponements with one move they don't know how to counter properly lmao
-Basic menus you can't get lost on
-Where does Anna pulls that rocket launcher from?
-Rich character roster with fun DLCS
-So many DLCs (but it's better than buying the same game *cough* any sports game ever *cough*)
-Great for making and loosing friends.

I'd give 10 but Heihachi exists while ma boi Lei and Julia are DLCs

I've been hesitant to play these "God's eye view" style games especially any MOBAs for that matter since they're a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ visuals i can't decipher what on the earth is going on and i never liked controlling the camera with a mouse in any game due to nausea.

As a result I'm a long time SMITE player because of the 3rd person game play, and let me tell you, it messes your head up getting used to Q W E R for skills instead of 1 2 3 4 keys.

That said, you don't have to brute about that here! That's right, this bloody game lets you bind keyboard keys for moving the camera! I can look around with W A S D like bloody maniac while using 1 2 3 4 for my skills! For me this feature makes DOTA infinitely better than other accessible MOBAs such as LoL.

Other things I like:
Great gameplay
All characters are unlocked from the get go so you can experiment
Neat graphics (though i disabled them all so i can avoid the visual ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ during team fights)
Easy to use UI and tons of customisation options

Lets be real, even though i suck at this game i'd give it a solid 8 out of 10 for the user experience.
But. And this is a big but, if you don't like constant updates every bloody second and your data cap screams for it to stop you might want to pass this one,
for this subjective reasoning i'll give it a 5/10 instead.

I'd rather play Minecraft Survival Games, which's equally a waste of time in my opinion.
The only reason I shamed my clan by having this on my library is because it made my brother smile, i love my brother #nohomo
