A simple DOS game that, believe or not, made me want to create games myself. Now in the new form, with new features (including level editor and Workshop support).
No mid-level saves and tricky layouts require careful planning, which path to take, when, where and which key should be collected and used, same with movable scenery elements. Secret money bags appear out of nowhere, but in predetermined locationsm, so you must remain vigilant and ready to collect them before they hit the floor (as far as I remember)... unless it's a trap. After all, you're a spy!

As long as your PC handles it, it's definitely worth every penny.

This game is VERY heavy on your hardware.
Check specs! It won't run on Intel HD graphics, and even if it starts, expect glitchfest (color bleeding and stuff).
Requires MORE than 2GB VRAM (graphics RAM), or you will not be able to load or play on later, bigger maps (it will either crash on load, or just after you try destroying something).
Also, due to AMD's poor OpenGL handling (apparently), the game has more stable FPS and generally performs on Nvidia GPUs.

Now with technical checks out of the way, the gameplay consists of two stages (depending on the scenario): preparation and execution. Most of the missions are timed, and the timer starts once you break/steal/tamper with one of the objectives. Until then, you can "terramorph" the environment to your liking, to enable you to collect/destroy objectives in the fastest possible time, or at least within the 60sec time window. You have one quicksave slot (tied to the currently played mission, you can't exit the game and load it after relaunch, at least not without slight messing around with files).

Both parts are very enjoyable in their own way. Preparation phase can take hours (if you want, to ensure your success on the first try and don't know the map enough) but if you know what you're doing, it can take less than 10 minutes. The second one, you can restart from quicksave as many times as you want to either fix minor problems with your route or just your own small execution mistakes.

There is a short but interesting story with specific kind of humor (safe for kids, but they might not get it), accompanying progression (level/tool unlocking). You can also find valuables that will then permanently disappear and add money to your virtual wallet, which you can then spend on tool upgrades.
This one can be counted as its own game, because there are so many things hidden in either plain sight or interesting places, like between double/fake walls. Be aware that while most of the valuables are indestructible, things like paintings hanging on the wall might be damaged when tearing the wall down, so you should look around searching for things in plain sight first, before going "deeper".

There is also a sandbox mode, which gives you the tools and maps you unlocked, with infinite ammo, to have fun with.

Another mode is "create", which allows you to run your downloaded mods (although in not-so-user-friendly way, you need to replace one of the existing 5 example mods' folders) or use the XML/Lua editor (like VSCode) and MagicaVoxel to create your own (mostly by modifying examples or looking for modding resources on the official Discord).
Better mod support (both tools and more Lua bindings and XML examples) are (hopefully) coming in the next content update.
Modders are already doing a pretty good job on this.

TL;DR: Ton of fun, huge replay value due to both existing maps being solvable in multiple ways and modding community working hard, very nice physics, awesome lighting (due to the game being fully `raytraced`) and hours of gameplay in the official missions and exploration. Just get it (and if it doesn't start, seek help on Discord or get a refund).

Oh, and more content is coming in the "Part 2"... (apparently for free)

Highly recommended. Fully destructible environment, many spells, enemies, locations, and possibilities.
PowderToy, but with player, enemies, procedural terrain generation, "story"/lore, and fun.
Also, reminds me of Liero.
Mods allow you to enjoy it more casually and push the engine to its limits, but watch out for certain elements and make many savegame backups not to break your work (or lose your hard-earned items and progress). The last tip applies not only to mods.
The only thing I wish it could have in standard would be a mode with checkpoints (or preferably, actual quicksaves where you won't die permanently when you fail) and bigger inventory (I like collecting stuff and would gladly create my own specialized set of wands and collection of useful items/spell to take with me on second/nth playthrough, terraria-like).
The first thing can be achieved through mods, and the second one... I don't know yet. Spawn list mod could partially make up for it, but there are so many elements that it's hard to treat it that way, it breaks fun (when you have everything you possibly could) and you can even break your save with it, so nope.

Initially, you have very low ammo and the punch ("uncharged") does not damage even to the the weakest enemy (and this problem persists until the end). You're forced to use Dash (when you finally obtain it) to damage zombies without the use of ammo (at least 3 dashes straight into their face). This is one serious drawback when it comes to feeling the strenght of the Doom Slayer. It's pretty funny (in the wrong way) to see that you can punch concrete/steel blocks which probably weight at least equivalent of the compact car through the room and break (selected) walls to dust with your punch, then can't even shake the weakest enemy using that same fist.
Chainsaw regenerates fuel until "one dot", so you theoretically cannot run out of ammo, but if the enemy somehow locks you, and you don't have the other skills that you get a bit later in the game, you're pretty much forced to load the checkpoint not to lose your additional lives (shouldn't happen later in the game but still...)
Ammo levels are pretty low even when fully upgraded, so unless you somehow have multiple gas canisters, you will never be able to chainsaw your way through the bigger enemies (only zombies and imps) because you constantly need to use the canisters to obtain back the ammo you lost during fight, not to run out of it.
The fight is very dynamic (that's a plus) but there are too many things to remember about if you want to really take everything out of them. You have flame belch which I always forget to use and for whatever reason, my muscle memory can't help me find R on the keyboard in the middle of being surrounded by enemies and running/jumping around while shooting enemies according to their own weak points/defeat strategies, much less switching between Grenade and Ice Grenade (which is even further from WASD).
Also, Marauder. Seriously **** that guy, and somebody who decided to put him at the multiple points of the game, including 30sec time trial, should reconsider a couple of decision before the next Doom. The guy is pretty much invulnerable if you don't stay in specific radius from him (plus minus one millimeter) and wait until the ****** decides to finally attack you without using his long distance magic and short distance shotgun, or his stupid dog which you need to also think about while being surrounded by a ton of other enemies. The guy is invulnerable to BFG and other super weapons, so the most you can do to defeat him is to spam with shotgun grenades, because his **** shield does not seem to shield him from them perfectly (but it's not that you will kill him with them).
Also, who thought that putting BFG/Unmaykr as a regular weapon (with no rune or skill to recover ammo for it from the monsters) and auto-switch to it to accidentally waste it would be a good idea?
All that requires some gameplay patches.
The trailers showed that the Doom Slayer is even more powerful than before, meanwhile he can't beat a single cultist no matter how much he tries.
Game looks amazing and has potential, but it's not exacrlt what was promised. Huge inconsistencies between "I can kill a huge monster with my blood punch" and then "I can't slap a weakened zombie to death" are sad.
Most of the enemies are bullet sponges, and guns are ammo hogs.
There are unlockable cheats for use in mission replays, but don't leave them on accidentally, because even if they're not seemingly activated in the Story/Campaign mode, they WILL disable spawning of the Slayer Keys and Slayer Gates (well, maybe just the first one but you will still not be able to open the second one without it, which will result in the need to replay the level to unlock them).

Without these bugs, I would say that the game is fun, good looking and running butter smooth, has interesting story and nice bosses (at least the big ones, Marauder doesn't count, see above).
I will still recommend it, while awaiting that some things will get fixed.

Better get Nature Treks VR. More content, better looking, less annoying, updated once in a while.

Ton of content, cheap for the value it gives, runs smoothly on my Intel Haswell i5 (and even older configs apparently).
Also it turns out that it was an inspiration for Valve when creating Half-Life: Alyx (and that's why it became so rich in physics interactions, at least from how it looks in the trailer).
After unlocking everything in Sandbox, you will gain an access to the GMod-like toolgun in the campaign and you will be able to mess around to your heart's content with exotic physics-based tools and weapons (like Power-Puncher, Gravity/Physics Gun (a mix of the two), Anti-gravity plates, Mission Impossible 4-like wall climbing plates, Flight/Noclip... rocket-powered hair-dryer thingy :) that allows for exploration, and the others (check out Node video if you haven't already: https://youtu.be/w-LllLnXlNw?t=386)

TL;DR: Just buy it already if you've got any supported VR hardware

If you want to decide between this and Perfect VR, Nature Treks VR is better, and still growing/improving over time. Great thing to show people for their first VR time...

One of the best things VR you can try today.
Lots of fun, no motion sickness (which is strange, considering what you can do in this game).
Many levels to beat, with new mechanics to discover.
The only thing it lacks is coop mode on the standard maps (so you could show a way to beat certain things to the new players) and no level editor (which would be an amazing addition).

A must-have.
