The development of this game is a mess.

CA clearly has no vision for development, or the game due to its size simply outgrown their capabilities.

Some races get constant content, some are left untouched for years.

DLCs are left lacking, get delayed, changed, fixed and tweaked with no end. Development teams change which causes further delays. Current content arrival is roughly half of what was promised, and third of what is needed to keep this game fun and engaging.

CA clearly moved to other projects...

Waited till patch 1.1 to write a review and the it occured to me that this game isnt worth a proper review.

So to keep things short: the main sin of this game arent bugs but stupidity. Proof?

-2d sprites as cars in the distance. Really? Is this doom3d? We have 2021, a basic low polygon 3d object isnt something you have to skimp on... Also these sprites arent objects that gain details as you come closer but disapperar... Just why would you do something like this in a 2020 game...
-dumpster fires not connected to said dumpsters. This is plainly a lack of proper object mechanic. We now have a flying fireballs...
-teleporting police. Another mechanic that doesnt work not because it is broken but because its not there. Replaced with abomination whose creator didnt even bother to add minimal teleporting distance...

For more just watch youtube but dont concentrate on the funny result, but on what the game creator was thinking.

The problem here is not that this game is unpolished. That can be fixed with patches. What cant be fixed with patches is simply lack of mechanics... Does anyone really believe that they will add a working police system in the future? With driving police cars? Develop ai algoritm for that if they didnt do it to begin with?

Or they will recheck all map, connect dumpster fires to actual dumpsters (after adding that feature)?

Rework vechicle spawning at the distance? thats a game engine change btw

This game isnt unpolished. Its simply unfinished product full of holes that were quickly stuffed with whatever had roughly matching shape without consideration for overall consistency and quality.

This game doesnt need patches. It needs to disappear for 2-3 years and return as a compleately reworked product "no mans sky"-like.

There is some confusion on the internet to what this actually is. Many people see this as a shameless cashgrab from Beamdog on something they dont own.

Personally I disagree.

As a proud owner of every Black Isle game when it was first realeased (YAY, 5 cd swapping time) I am happy to see one of my most beloved game in my steam library, with most of essential mods integrated as a one package.

Beamdog didnt manage to dodge some controversies, but personally it doesnt kill the experience for me. They actually did a pretty good job with Dragonspear expansion, and brought an old classic that, lets face it, noone would have time to install and mod today to a new generation.

And since game itself is great its worth to get it.

Great continuation of battlefleet gothic.

Game improves basically on every aspect of the original one by eliminating artificial borders and (whats probably most rare in todays developers) listening to playerbase.

Annoying missions from first game that nobody liked? - gone
Extensive campaign modding options already built into game? - yep
All races included in base game so You are not forced to buy DLC? - present

Basically a sequel like in good old days. Better in every way and not set to grab as much cash from players as possible.

One of the best RTS of all time. Useless loot mechanic, and a lot of additional overpriced DLC content break a bit the experience, but all in all great game

Great spiritual succesor of all classic RPG's.

If you liked Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, or Planescape Torment, you will love Pillars of Eternity
