Truly amazing game with a short, fun and sweat story. If you like bullet hell or
rhythm games, or just electronic music in general, you'll most likely enjoy it :)

Level 22 as of writing this, so i can't comment on end-game, but what i can say is taht the game has been loads of fun this far.
________________________________
  • The game runs decently on pretty much anything, it has some issues with tearing and stuttering on my system, some bugs and connectivity issues from time to time, but nothing that should detract from your experience too much.
  • The characters are all fun in gameplay, design and their story dialogue.
  • The art style is exactly what it looks like, it's cell-shaded anime ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and you either love or hate that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • The combat makes you feel like a proper badass. It might feel a bit basic and easy at 1st, but as you get into higher zones, gain more abilities and try doing mission on higher difficulties it can become quite challanging (haven't experienced anything unfair so far either, so that's that).
  • As for the energy system, while i hate it's even a thing, it hasn't impacted me yet, and this is with me playing a decent bit every day (Got up to level 3 daily reward most days playtime wise). All in all, if you just play casually, you should not run into issues with it, not for a while at the very least.
  • When it comes to cosmetics, there's a lot of options to customize your character, but you'll either have to grind a decent bit for each piece, or open up your wallet.
So yeah, all in all, if you're just looking for a fun, anime-style dungeon crawler to waste some time on, give this a try! s( ^‿ ^)-b

(Also a note for anyone starting out, don't try to understand everything in the game straigh away, you'll just get overwhelmed, just play along and you should slowly figure everything out.)

The game is insanely fun, even if somewhat intimidating when you 1st pick it up and barely even understand how you managed to finish the race.
The graphics are amazing, and it's not even a very demanding game, i can easily play it on my laptop (gtx 1050 ti and 7th gen i5) at mostly high settings at a stable 60 fps.
And to top it all off, it has an AMAZING soundtrack! :D

Playing through this was a blast!

The puzzles are cool, visuals are really nice, sound design is good, has some slight spooks to keep you slightly on edge. All in all great game, and since it is free i really thik that everyone should check it out! ( And i mean, what better time to try out a spooky puzzle game that now, right? :) )

"This should be a nice game to play with my younger sister" i thought, looking at the game in my steam library, not even thinking of the possibility of it being violent.
2 hours in and boy was i wrong. Sister still loves it, but we were both in for a rude awakening at some point.

It really takes a good game to tell as much as it does about the characters and world without any dialog or written lore.

Go read sergio.bobillier's review (2nd highest rated english review at the time of writing this), he does a good job of explaining who the game's for.

NieR:Automata is all I knew I wanted as well as all I didn't even know I wanted from a singleplayer game. The combat's fun, it has a great story (Never knew i'd feel as uneasy as i did because of robot suicide), a well made world (both map and story wise) and an amazing soundtrack. And all of that is delivered in gameplay that ranges from 3rd person hack and slash to bullet hell, even including some visual novel features, and is backed up by an RPG style character system.

Pros:

+ Fun combat, even after many hours of gameplay
+ Story: Good characters and multiple well executed story arc-s. Multiple mind♥♥♥♥s.
+ World: The map is complex enough for you to still be finding new areas after a good ammount of playtime.
+ Soundtrack
+ Character advancement: You can customize the characters to fit your prefered playstyle. Very hard to hit a point at which you're "done".
+ Gameplay diversity: Game transitions well between multiple genres.
+ Lore and stories: You can unlock lore and stories throughout the game. All weapons have short but interesting unlockable stories, some refering to past games from the universe.

Cons:
- Side quests can get stale.
- Poor PC port: You have to downgrade drivers if you have an AMD GPU (Now fixed with recent driver update) (Not sure about Nvidia), resolution is wonky, KB+M controls are unintuitive and a few more.
- Can get grindy if you want a certain item/upgrade,
- Little character customization: You really cannot change the characters appearance much. Not an issue for me but i know some people care.

All in all i would most definately recommend the game to anyone. It's really been the best singleplayer experience i ever had.

Early Access Review
The game is just amazing fun. If you've never really played an arena shooter before (like me) the game could feel a bit unfair at 1st, you'll keep dying while others zoom past you and grab all the good pickups, but once you figure out the movement and get used to the weapons, i can almost guarantee you that you'll have a blast playing this.

You also shouldn't be scared off by the early access tag. The dev team has been doing a great job so far with both development and community interaction.

The game does have a smaller playerbase, but you can usually still find one or two populateed matches at most times.

Amazing game. The story is truely beautiful, the characters are memorable, there's houndreds of hours worth of gameplay, and once you've played through some 20 or so hours of the game, you will learn to love the soundtrack.
