I've been into the Half-Life series and its mods since late 1998, where I was playing it in software mode on a Pentium 2. Later, I saved up $100 and bought a Voodoo 3 and was introduced to glorious high frame rates, high resolutions, and filtered textures. I immediately became obsessed with mods like TFC, Counter Strike, and Action Half-Life. A friend and I ran a TFC clan for about a year, known as DIH (Dogs in Heat) using AngelFire and MS FrontPage. I hated being forced to install Steam with the release of Half-Life 2 but it became a pretty good service in the years following.

In time this has become my only real platform for games. I sold off all my consoles and collections and rely on emulation whenever the urge strikes me. I do currently have an exploited Sony Vita (and PS TV, aka Vita TV), so I dabble in emulation, PS1, PSP, and the occasional Vita game on that. It's become rare though.
