Fast-paced first person arena shooting, spiced up with numerous ways to interact with the environment around you. Has a cheater problem, but what competitive game doesn't, these days.

It ain't perfect, and the computer-generated voice acting can be a turn off for people, but find two good friends to play with, and you'll find some fun in turning an entire city block into a rubble patch.

A subtle bit of genius in design. The ubiquitous and familiar rules of poker, recontextualized into a highly replayable game of ever-increasing numbers, which forces the player to balance chance and risk against synergy and opportunity. Deceptively simple, dangerously fun. I'm fortunate this game isn't on my phone, else I may find myself playing it far, far more often.

Satirical, Starship Troopers-esque jingoism with a modern twist, overlaid atop one of the most fun cooperative third-person shooters to come out in a long time. Far from perfect, but absolutely worth your money, and an infinite source of hysterical moments when played with friends.

Managed Democracy awaits.

Quite possibly the most hilarious and concerning social game I've ever played. There's layers of unpredictability and non-permanence to the moment-to-moment gameplay itself to keep it fresh, but it's the constant little mysteries and uncertainty that make it the most entertaining. What happened to your buddy who was just talking to you a few seconds ago? What's the deal with that weird little girl in the red dress? Why do you hear those stomping noises near your ship? Figuring those things out are all part of the charm of this game. Guiding your buddies through what you know, only to get pimp slapped by something new and unexpected and leaving them to fend for themselves, is the purest essence of this silly little game.

It's everything we ever wanted.

High speed, high impact murder robot combat that flits between power fantasy against hapless mundane military equipment, massively imposing giant war machines, and fast-paced duels between other Armored Cores that feel more like PvP than actual AI fights. Failures are frustrating, which makes adapting and overcoming all the more sweet.

An amazing return to form, and still entirely accessible to those who've never touched the series before. Go pile bunker a giant helicopter.

A charmingly janky and colorful nostalgia trip for anyone who holds the likes of Jet Set Radio near and dear to their hearts.

Not a groundbreaking game by any means, but a delightful place to get lost in for an hour or two, for sure.

This game was a sorry mess on launch, as Fatshark games often end up being. Those of us who played Vermintide have seen the pattern before, though this time it was even worse than before. Entire systems not implemented, bugs aplenty, and clear signs that the devs just didn't have enough time to actually finish the game before getting pushed to launch.

A year later, following the 1.2 patch, Darktide is finally in the state it should have been for launch; the gameplay loop is complete, the character building is actually present, the loot and gear tuning is actually in and working as intended, but most importantly, the game is genuinely fun to play, now.

There's still problems here and there, both technical and design in nature, but even then, Darktide is currently one of the best love letters to the 40k universe you can find. Even if the bad launch turned you off it before, I'd wholeheartedly say it's worth your time now.

A truly excellent six-ish hours of wonderfully crafted Half Life 2 content.

If the first Entropy: Zero was just Breadman dipping his toes into the Combine kiddie pool, he and his team have all but dived head-first this time. The entire mod is brimming with personality, creativity, and a clear love of the source material. Liberties are taken, but they still largely feel within the realm of what's been shown and intended for the series.

There's some problems, mostly technical, but even abrupt crashes didn't ultimately diminish my experience. Truly the finest Detroit Police Department simulator on the market.
