(No spoilers because I'm too lazy for spoiler tags)
I want to play this game.
Unironically I think about wanting to play this game because of the tutorial. Literally one of the best total war campaigns I've played. It got me interested in the world, it had interesting characters, there were high stakes, weaknesses, twists, fun combat (except for the siege battles, buggy and boring as ♥♥♥♥, and there weren't any survival battles, which I ignored in the main campaign. Thanks autoresolve!) interesting units. It was genuinely fun to play the tutorial. I was drawn in. I wanted to continue the story, and that meant I had to play the main campaign.
So sixteen hours later, I regret playing the campaign. You cannot play your way. You cannot, with the character whose background you witnessed and now have free means to customize and lay waste with, win the game your way. You have to do these four annoying and tedious arenas before the ai does, incurring punishments in the form of stat debuffs (that harm EVEN THE DEMONS), invasive armies, or economic issues thanks to the need to maintain standing forces to defeat said invaders. If you don't, the ai will beat you before hand.
I'd be fine with having losing conditions if the four arenas in the chaos realm weren't all the same long and downright annoying tasks.
I'm fine with needing to turtle up and play tall to survive against the constant barrage of invasive armies (Because if you spread out, you surround yourself with more gates in which these invading demons can attack you). I don't like painting the map my colour or fighting in siege battles. I love field battles, so being able to turtle and build high and go on quests or crusades? Fine by me.
But what they did to the campaign? They have made every faction's campaign play out the same way. : Conquering as few provinces as sustainably possible, then going through those damn four arenas before the Ai does. ONLY THEN, upon winning the game, can you do as you please. That's hours worth of work for nothing. This has hurt my desire to actually go through and play the game, because I know I'm going to be doing the same thing no matter which faction. Which is a shame, because a lot of Warhammer 1 factions are in this game, and I would love to play say Ostermark and lead a crusade against the factions past the World's Edge Mountains, or those northern dwarves to carve a path to Cathay. I'll have to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ go through those four godforsaken arenas and win the game first. ♥♥♥♥ that.
Also, Cathay's campaign goal is dumb when you really think about it.
Any more time you see on this review is me playing the tutorial until mods and fixes are introduced.

This is for the campaign. I don't care about multiplayer.
This game is fun. Guns shoot well, enemies die satisfyingly. Diologue is funny, and the character arcs of the story are nice.
The plot in itself is a soft reboot and lacks any of the high stakes of any of the other games in the franchise. It genuinely feels like the first of a bunch of campaigns, and as such I don't its worth buying now. Never mind all the issues with multiplayer, on the single player side it is rather shallow. The game play is nice but they sacraficed all those large set piece battles for small skirmishes, never utilizing this huge map for scarabs or even allowing you to hijack a Phantom. Hell, the Banished have dreadnoughts in orbit. There should be reinforcements by the assload falling on all those FOBs I retook. Replacement commanders coming in for all the HVT's I killed. There should be missions about establishing the portion of Zeta Halo I'm on as a strategic stronghold with Anti Air weaponry or ships of our own to stave off those dreadnoughts overhead. Hell, there should be different environments besides Ashen wastes, mountains, and swamps. Where are the beaches? The arctic? Where are the freaking REAL swamps instead of these pity marshes?
It feels very lazy as an attempt to hold us over before they come up with some real content. The first in a line of campaigns, where we are Taking over the map to establish a foothold to retake the rest of zeta halo, and then possibly defeat the banished and whatever this Banished are. Honestly Escherum should've been that one brute chieftan we had to fight off while we were dealing with the tall banished boss instead of a literal no name and his goons.
Its just all shallow and not worth 60 bucks right now. Wait for another campaign at the very least.

There are plenty of recorded bugs which have come about with this new dlc, from boats never wanting to move resulting in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ units dying to easily avoidable ramming enemies to the usual crashes. There are also plenty of balancing issues, such as samnites ( historically a fearsome enemy to Rome) now being weak as hell.

What pisses me off the most is the lack of unit divirsity, at least aesthetically for the etruscans. Look up the mount and blade warband mod Rome at war. Takes place around the same time with the same factions and more as rise of the republic. It has more unique units such as etruscans square medium spearmen or two handed axemen. ♥♥♥♥, this mod for warband even has recruitable bannermen for ALL. Factions. Etruscans don't even have bannermen, just two guys in capes, one of which happens to be in a loincloth where a Bannerman usually is. Ffs the shields of the etruscans in Rome at war are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ better than rise of the republic's. Hoplites for etruscans use the same shield textures as Greeks, when in reality etruscan shields would look like this https://pin.it/ezokfpuzxec2d2. This just reaks of half assery.

This dlc needs a Hellenika. ♥♥♥♥ you CA.

This is not worth Six dollars. This is a free twitch.io zelda clone with a theme of "middle ages". This is suppose to be 1500s Frisia, netherlands. Where are the crossbowmen, Sallets and landsknechts? Probably later on in this game but if im half way through the achievements in an hour this game will end before i can get a refund. As such i do not recommend it unless you like clackity-clack "slashers" and the like.
I do not know that much about mr Donia. What i gather is from this great article. http://www.badassoftheweek.com/bigpier.html
And if i am to be right nothing in this game would be tolerated. It is merely a crash grab by some rather talented artists who really did have much talent in programming fun combat. Forced stealth times and constant death by the thwic of a bow whilst being hoarded by a dozen idiots WHO DONT EVEN HAVE SHIELDS isnt fun.
Improve the combat/ give more variation in weaponry, lengthen the game, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ give some of these saxon Landsknecht a shield!

Game worked perfectly for me. Although i scoff at the idiots who thought releasng the game for pc in this form is ♥♥♥♥, i also look badly at the idiots who think this is game is worth 60$. I am not refunding my order, because i actually want to see how they improve thsi game and make my 60$ worth it. I am however telling YOU to not buy it until ths review is a year old. or the gme is better.

Alright. Before you start;
1. The A.I. is ♥♥♥♥.
2. Late game is boring

Otherwise, its pretty awesome. if Civ B.E. is a 6, this is an 8.
