West of Dead is fun, I've found it to have a pretty addictive gameplay loop. It definitely has issues and feels very unfinished. AI sometimes just doesn't work, the dodge mechanic can be very finicky, aiming can be problematic, but despite the issues it is still a very fun game.

The game is simple, the gameplay loop is very grindy. Do you want the biggest, most powerful ship before you even leave the first system? Not even difficult, just a little time consuming to get money and it instantly breaks the difficulty of the game (Which you can break with the mid-tier ships, to be honest). That said, it is still a fun game and I do enjoy it.

When I get to play it.

The Mouse and Keyboard controls are kind of ♥♥♥♥, it definitely is intended for console controllers, and lucky me I have a PS5 controller that games on Steam seem to work really well with. Well, except for Rebel Galaxy, which only occasionally deigns to recognize that any controller aside from mouse and keyboard is connected at all. It seems to be entirely arbitrary and random whether any attempt to boot the game will let it see the controller or not. It's not a lose connection, Steam and every other game have no problem seeing it. The controller can sit untouched as I boot and close the game repeatedly until it finally decides that this time it CAN see the controller, and then it has no problems for the entire session.

It also doesn't really have much in the way of replayability.

It's... Aggressively adequate. Buy on sale when it's really, really cheap, enjoy a few hours of flat space travel, go back to anything else in your library.

If you haven't played the Mass Effect trilogy, you're missing out on some of BioWare's best work, but if you're looking to get into it now, I would recommend just getting it on console.

The PC port of ME2 is full of game breaking bugs, my personal favorite of which is where you randomly glitch into terrain and can't get out without using the NOCLIP console command or (if you haven't downloaded the tool SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED to add NoClip as a hotkey because of how pervasive this bug is) restart the mission. There's also a host of graphical issues (Though I don't think any quite as bad as the Shadow People glitch in the ME1 port).

The DLC for ME2 is fantastic. On the console version of the game, it's include. On the PC version, if you want it to work you have go through Origin. Upside, if you have ME2 installed through Steam, Origin will automatically install your DLC and do your game updates to your Steam install so you won't need to try and shuffle files anywhere.

Downside: The Cerberus Network (through which your DLC is verified in-game) cannot remember that you're logged in, and can't see that you're currently logged into Origin. The login screen for the Cerberus Network poorly optimized for PC use. Tab doesn't work, so you have to manually click each field. The password field has a hard-coded character limit that is most likely shorter than your Origin password, so if you want to actually be able to USE your DLC (only $24.99 on Origin, and no the Digital Deluxe Steam version does NOT include it!), you'll have to change your password on Origin to something short enough to fit within the character limit in the game.

Don't like the janky mouse and keyboard control scheme and want to use a gamepad? Jokes on you, the menus use the gamepad like a mouse, and while you can technically use a controller, there are no settings and no support for this console game to use one.

It is one of the worst PC ports I've dealt with, and cannot recommend anyone spend money on it, even on sale (Especially since you have to go to EA and fork over more money to them to get the actual full experience, that again, was INCLUDED on the console version of the game).

So either get the trilogy on console, or wait and hope the Remastered edition is less of a cluster.

Ran fine, looked good, cutscenes looked fantastic. Aside from 343 shoehorning their TOTALLY L33t Hax0rz fan fiction character who is Just the COOLEST and could totally beat Master Chief who isn't the main character in HALO, what are you talking about? AND the Arbiter, AND the Grave Mind with one hand tied behind his back because he's JUST the coolest, you just don't understand him 'cause you're not cool enough into the first cutscene, it was pretty fantastic.

Played Demons Souls, but never beat it.
Played Dark Souls, but don't think I ever got much further than the asylum demon.
Played Dark Souls II, still just couldn't get into it.
Played Dark Souls III for awhile, made it to Dancer and abandoned the game for a year, I think. Just found it frustrating, couldn't figure out why people liked this game so much.

Came back to it recently and started from scratch. For whatever reason, this time the game clicked. My deaths weren't meaningless, I was learning something about the enemies or the environments, or that you should almost never trust a message that says "Jumping required ahead.", because there's nothing down there except an instadeath fall. One by one I defeated the Lords of Cinder. I would get stuck on some enemy, but I'd come back with a clear head and beat them down.

Then I beat Dark Souls III.

The game is difficult, yes, there is a fair amount of 'git gud' involved with getting to the end. There's also a fair amount of finding what tactics or what play style works best for you. But you CAN improve. Every time you die is another lesson that brings you closer to crushing your enemies. The feeling you get when you can turn around and body that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in full plate that was stopping your progress is awesome and cathartic. When you finally defeat a boss that's crushed you time, and time again? Worth it.

And that's saying nothing about the story or the characters, which are almost all fantastic. Or the atmosphere, or the music...

So yes. I recommend Dark Souls III. It's an excellent, difficult, but remarkably fair game.

Early Access Review
After growing up with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and later getting into the SKATE series, and most recently trying Skater XL and now Session, Session probably has the least intuitive control scheme I've come across and one of the most brutal learning curves I think I've had in any game. Spent half an hour trying the various control schemes, trying to get used to any of it, and in that time I'm just annoyed and frustrated with the game, rather than feeling like I'm actually making any progress. One of the early jokes in the tutorial is about how if you think the game is hard you should try actually skateboarding, but from experience actually learning to skateboard is more intuitive and user-friendly.

It's pretty, the physics seem decent, it's got a lot of very positive reviews, but it's not for me. Spend the $20-$30 or whatever this game will cost you, buy a walmart board or something and try the real thing instead.

The game has lots of positive reviews, I enjoy rhythm games, but I can't tell if I'll like Muse Dash because as far as the game is concerned, there is NO non-DLC music in the game that can be played. So I bought the DLC, and installed that. Yup, I still can't play anything. I tried reinstalling the game, maybe the DLC just didn't register.

Nope.

So, since I can't actually play the game, I can't recommend it to anyone. Refund request: GO!
