The Steam release makes the deepest indie games ever made more accessible to the average player. And we should be glad for it, because Dwarf Fortress is a special game. It writes its own stories, and trust me, you are going to remember. Maybe not the names of your individual dorfs, but you will remember when a necromancer comes to your early settlement and raises the bones and carcasses of your trash pile as an undead army that decimates your people.

I remember.

Buy on sale. Be prepared to deal with glitches and bugs. Save often.

Great isometric RPG. It will take time to explore everything but it's worth it. You can import your POE1 save from the steam cloud if you don't have it, this feature really saved my ass and there are more than a few references to your POE1 playthrough.

This feels like a mobile microtransaction trap.

The combat is button mashing garbage, enemies are uninteresting and there doesn't even seem a need for specific skill rotations. Story is bare bones, nothing that will hook you. Just people talking.

If you want a free ARPG just play Path of Exile.

Recommended for Mass Effect fans but with caution. Buy on sale.

Pros:
>I think this is the most likable cast of any of the Mass Effect games. Most of your crewmates are worth paying attention to.
>Some interesting ideas with combat. For the most part it works.
>Generally the cutscenes are done well.
>Stick to the primary objectives and crewmate loyalty quests.

Cons:
>Most of the side stuff isn't worth the time. This game finds a lot of ways to waste a lot of your time.
>Some really goofy bugs that interupt gameplay.
>The entire crafting and modding system is hot garbage. Read some articles and guides before you waste your resources.
>The final fight is super underwhelming.

This game holds up decently for a retro throwback, though you really have to learn to manage it. Inventory is a pain in the ass, still don't 100% understand all of the specific mechanics.

One of the best single-player campaigns for a shooter. Get EA Play for whatever discount you can, play this and whatever else you want for the next month. Value guaranteed.

Dungeon Keeper but bad.

I wouldn't even buy this on sale. Avoid.

There's about 10% good game here with 90% trash. This is a gear-grinding game. A handful of interesting mechanics do not make up for the almost completely missing plot. Pacing of the game is awful. Questing in this game is awful.

Desperately wants to be Dark Souls without understanding what Dark Souls even was, or what made it work.

Only recommending for BIG fans of tactical RPGs. Buy on severe discount.

This game is extremely convoluted for the first-time player. Sure, you can start with pre-made characters, but a lot of people are going to want to customize. This is the first huge hurdle for the new player. Attributes and skills are a complete crapshoot and you have nearly no information as to how important any of it is. I spent hours reading various guides trying to understand what I should build and why.

From there the first 2/3rds of the game is pretty decent. Storyline is alright, gameplay is alright. This game is mostly just an interesting, quircky entry in a pretty niche genre. I got tired of it pretty quick after traveling to California. Do yourself a favor and be done when you wrap up the Arizona portion (the first 2/3rds about).
