Most guns feel weak and uneffective
The maps are too large
Quests require too long walks
Humour is sometimes too heavy and childish
The story is not very serious. It is difficult to feel immersed in the universe.

Similar to Diablo 3, with interesting classes and systems. The story and bosses are cool, the visuals are nice, it feels good. My complain is that there are too many enemies. It is just abour killing enemies, exploration and side quests are non existent. It feels more like an arena shooter than a Action RPG ; there is no break between fights, it is constant killing.

A good game anyway for those who like Diablo-likes, with enough deepness.

One of my favourite games. After having played Borderlands 2, I can say that Borderlands 1 is way better. The environments, the gunplay, the story, the level design, the enemies, even the classes are better. It is the perfect game. I could spend my life in the Arid Badlands.

Tell me if you agree.

Early Access Review
It is a twin-stick shooter really like Nuclear Throne, but with RPG elements: you can loot many items, customize your armors, upgrade weapons and stuff. Stats (such as speed, HP, regen...) are visible and countable.
There is the EP system : every moves (shoot, dash, melee attack, etc) cost EP point which regen fasts but once all gone, you have to wait to recharge your system. This thing prevents blind spamming. The terrain is also a game changer with different things like ice & conveyor belt which influence your movements : it is good.

The game is really fast paced with the presence of skills like dash, the speed of bullets, the celerity of melee attacks, the responding animation... You can choose between 3 classes with their own unique ability and 20+ skills to begin with (passive or active). Pixel art is very nice and music too.

The problem is see with this game is the so-so break at the end of every level, when you have to analyse your loot, recycle, upgrade, etc. It is pleasing but it breaks the pace and during that phase, the controls are tedious imo.

It is less "jump in & play" than Nuclear Throne, games lasts longer I believe, and I think that's the weak spot of the game. I'm interested to see how the game will become in the future.

Another problem is the loot : it is very cool, we loot many items, but in-game we pick up things but we don't really know what it is, and at the end of the level I feel flooded with so many items. But this feeling is only something of the singleplayer, because in multiplayer you spend time to trade/share items. And btw, I think the real game begins when you play in co-op.

One of the best FPS in my opinion. Total freedom, a beautiful playground, good weapons, nice setting, engine is well optimized.
If you like games such as Stalker, you'll surely enjoy Farcry 2.
And it is very cheap-priced, so do'nt hesistate anymore.
PS: I played a lot the game before I owned it on Steam.

Even if I didn't spend much time in it, It is one of the best game I played. It's really awesome game, you should really buy it.
You know this War3 Rexxar's bonus campain? The unique feeling in front of this open map, full of things to explore, leveling, looting, questing... Well, Counter Spell provides the same feeling.
It is quite similar to ORPG custom maps in Warcraft 3.
The exploration is great (it reminds me of Far Cry 3 exploration).
Gameplay is great.
Graphics are clean and enjoyable.

Good game, I'm not far in the progression but I find it really hard, maybe too much, who knows?
I recommand this game. The lore from Lovecraft is well done, and visuals are pretty. The voxel system really participates to the gameplay.
It would be so cool to have co-op or other kinds of multiplayer (like anti-co-op).
