It's a really good game with a good mix of casual gameplay and things to turbo nerd around. It will only get better and better as more content is added.

An exciting start
I have been a big fan of Farming Simulator since FS2011, my second game I ever purchased. This is their most impressive release yet. If you enjoyed other games from the series, I am sure you will enjoy this too. Equally, if you never found enjoyment in a farming simulator, this will not change that.

For starters, I have not experienced any major bugs. I am not sure what other reviewers are doing, but my experience has been vastly different. There have been some small graphical glitches/flickering and some minor gameplay bugs that I have reported to Giants, and I am sure they will get to in due course. This is to be expected with any game release in this day and age, love it or hate it. Giants have been well known to patch their games. I trust they will fix anything that is extremely broken.

I will admit being overly un-optimistic about this game based on the pre-release press releases and trailers. It did seem like they were just adding what modders could already do in FS19, however now that I have been hands on with the game that those features have been implemented in ways/with a certain level of polish that modders could simply not achieve with their tool-set. Now lets hope the modders can set their sights further now that these features are baked in.

I have appreciated the focus on diversification in workflows too (for example, mulchers, rollers, stone pickers). There are now many different ways to do the same thing, which I will accept must be hard for beginners to wrap their heads around but for simulation enthusiasts such as myself is extremely exciting. There are also additional ways to boost yield, giving you more to do over the winter months.

I have also enjoyed the smaller machines, making the startout easier. Their recent games have often leaned heavily on the larger equipment, making the starting few in-game years lacking but this game feels well polished in that area. For example, the smaller balers.

Some new features have been heavily glossed over too;
  • Cross Play is now possible so you can play with your console gamer friends.
  • The building and terrain editing system has been overhauled making it much easier to achieve what you're going for.
  • Graphical and sound effects have been improved in almost all areas, making the entire experience more immersive.

A lot of the negative reviews that I have seen have only played the game for a few hours. That is not enough time to go through a full year in the game, nor to try the new features. I have played for 12 hours, and barely scraped the surface of what this name game offers.

With all that said, my usual complaints must still be included. It is still an outdated engine, that I believe is holding the game back. It is still an extremely eurocentric game with very little in the way of realistically modelled American or otherwise international equipment. I would love to see this get addressed in future releases, but it won't hold me back from appreciating what this game is...

Good story. There are lots of things to waste hours on collecting too.

I have a love hate relationship with this game. This game is entirely reliant on mods. In its base form it is bland. This is not a new issue. I have played every Farming Simulator since 2011 and I have always needed mods to find enjoyment past 100-200 hours. The real problem is that Giants does not acknowledge that. The are complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to the modding community, especially American Modders. Their modhub 'standards' are a joke with Among Us weights, yet the best modders in the Farming Simulator community get denied.

The engine is old - it has reached its limits, and without mods it would be well past it's best before date.

I still love this game and recommend it, but people need to be prepared to mod (from external sites) it to have an enjoyable experience.

The developers have for all intents and purposes abandoned this game, which is really unfortunate as it shows so much potential. It is still too unfinished to recommend.

Currently, I have to say that X-Plane is my favourite flight simulator on the market. I have used FSX extensively in the past, but made the transition to X-Plane rather than moving over to P3D due to the insane cost. I have also purchased MSFS2020 and enjoyed it, but it is currently not at the point where it is comparible to either P3D or X-Plane. This may change in the next year or so, but for now I am sticking with X-Plane, which is currently the highest value for money option on the market with extensive freeware and payware communities giving you lots of options as far as addons go.
