less of a game, more of a willfully chosen mental illness, and the one true GOTY if I ever saw one. obsessive types beware.

Bosses: Make them jump around non-stop (or fly), do two masks of damage, no punishment windows, invisible infinite health pools, annoying adds with ranged projectiles that probably home, persist, AND explode after a few seconds, fly off-screen or become a screen consuming hit-box every fifteen seconds.

Runbacks: Make them long, tedious, dangerous, annoying.

Traps: Put them everywhere, make 'em do two masks too.

The player: "Umm, Team Cherry, when is the player meant to-"

Team Cherry: "...the player!?"

It looks AMAZING on Steam Deck OLED but "Verified" is a bit of a stretch. The controls are awkward and attempting to adjust the sensitivity of the sticks caused the cursor to leave the game entirely, and randomly.

This game is insane. It will ruin your life. The second I shut my eyelids, my brain is sorting imaginary cards into piles to either toss in the trash or to make high scoring combinations for eight hours (or 6, or 4, or 2) until I wake up and log back in. Sometimes I will close the game client, look at my terrifying new "hours played" statistics, say "huh" and then relaunch the game.

I cannot believe someone made a game more addictive than StS at all, let alone in the same genre.

The best 15 dollars you can spend on Steam. Period.

Edit: Still the best fifteen dollars you can spend on Steam.

I'm a very casual solo ARPG player and this game is my absolute favorite among the handful I've tried (D2R, D3, Torchlight 2+3). There seems to be a ton of depth in the underlying systems and a staggering amount of options when planning and executing your character's build but you can also absolutely play and enjoy this as someone who just likes to see big numbers get bigger.

ALSO: The loot drop animation is top in its class, it never gets old seeing items pop out of monsters you've just melted.

Possibly my favorite game ever. Even without the modding scene (and not ever really messing with the modifiers), the game is so ridiculously enjoyable and essentially infinitely re-playable; with those added options, the PC version offers even more outstanding value to a game that is already bursting with it.

Buy it, like, uhh, now.

Credit to the Playtonic team, they've done a great job in re-purposing assets from a "meh" 3D plaftormer into a wonderful 2D platformer. It was a shrewd business decision as well; hopefully it proves to be successful, because the game is great.

Unlocking the overworld is probably the most enjoyable thing I've done in a game... ever? It's so enjoyable, and I could honestly play a game of nothing but these simple puzzles and connecting the world together with well-designed shortcuts.

This game is exceptional; conceptually, it's flawless, and it will likely prove the progenitor of a series of imitators (hopefully, at least), because this style has potential beyond what is accomplished here, and this game is VERY good as it is. The art style is a little distracting at first, but you get acclimated to it pretty quickly.

*mild spoilers regarding mechanics follow*

If I had to levy criticism, it would be that some of the distinctions between "cause of death" are not neatly delineated, escpecially early on where the difference between ideas like "speared" and "spiked" isn't exactly clear, and what counts as cargo/rigging, and there is some educated guessing particularly for characters whose fate involves them ending up in the water; did they drown, or did they fall victim to something in the water? Perhaps the game accepts both answers, I'm not sure how lenient it is in these distinctions. It's also a little bit too easy to brute force some solutions by abusing the "groups of three" mechanic, although perhaps that is intended as there is a woeful shortage of information for some of the characters.

*end spoilers*

Bottom line: Buy it.
