Starship Troopers & Terminator 2 Coop Simulator 2024

This game is surprisingly fun if you throw away your previous expectations. This game has two main appeals: one is if you wanted to recapture the magic of single hero units slaughtering hordes of enemies or two if you always told people what to do in MOBA's and just wanted to take over the whole team yourself. So "elite" units are basically the three heroes you can have per match and you can either try to turtle and survive or to burst the enemies down with them. Your mainline units are mostly fodder for these elite units and do little more than delay them.

Gameplay is golden, the actual loot and cosmetics is terrible but as long as you're enjoying the gameplay, that's what's important :)

Been playing this for ten years and it's been a great constant companion. You can actively play or passively check in every so often. It gives you a sense of growth and satisfaction. It even gives you a sense of community should you seek it out as there's many other enthusiastic players and you can even see the number of other players as a bonus to your own game!

Extremely complicated with very little in the way of detailed tutorials. Ample community resources and text documentation, but at the end of the day, it just isn't very fun to play. Perhaps it's realistic, but realistic war isn't very fun, sitting around waiting for ages to pick off a few enemies may be a more accurate depiction of warfare, but a fun one automatically it does not make.

This game appears to be very inactive. I queued for almost 30 mins as a new player and was unable to find a single PvE game.

Edit 1: I was finally able to get into a game today. However, the issue is that it appears to have a much more active non-English speaking community thereby making ping and communication issues worse. In addition, I think the actual gunplay does not feel very satisfying, nor does the unlock feel very appealing. The game reeks of copy catting from other older and better games. The battlepass screen feels like a blatent rip off of Modern Warfare. The idea that you can get rental weapons that needs repairing is a relic of game design from the early 2010's which makes sense considering that this is when this game was released. If you can't afford any shooters, this is a decent game to get a few pew pew in's. However, if you have a better system, Warzone is also free with much better gun handling and if you are looking for something else that has enjoyable gunplay and are willing to spend money, Farcry and the older battlefields are all great alternatives. Unless you're a broke teenager/young adult with an older rig, I'd say give this game a pass.

Fun to access modern cold war tanks within a few matches and to play some PvE, but I can't comment on the PvP aspect, but you're probably better off playing War Thunder or World of Tanks if you're looking for competitive multiplayer. Extremely fun to be able to access the most modern of tanks at the end of the tech tree with increasing challenge available in higher difficulty levels and welcoming battalions (clans) that will help guide you and make you have a warm fuzzy feeling. Be warned though, with the War in Donbask, player toxicity has reached Mesospheric levels of toxicity with every "Slava Ukraini!" resulting in at least one Russian player trolling you for the rest of the match. However, if you just wish to see some steel beasts discharge hot lead into some bots, this is the place for it :)

"L4D2, but with better melee"

This is the hook that got me into this game. One of the best hallmarks of a video game or really, any game, is that it is incredibly simple to pick up, but also very difficult to master. Having that very low entry floor but extremely high skill ceiling allows players of all sorts to enjoy the game. Whether you're hear to just enjoy the simple satisfaction of watching mountains of bodies go flying or you're the hardcore enough to minmax every last item slot in every last character in every last class, there is something here for everyone.

This game is mostly dead on the beginner end a stompfest for noobs on the high end, so why do I still recommend it? It's beautiful for one and more importantly it's super fun to play right out of the box with a price tag of FREE! This is NOT Fractured Space with robust trees and ships and map, this is basically an arcade flying scifi ship shooter, enjoy it before they shut it down!
