This is the absolute worst entry in the Civilization franchise. The UI is unintuitive, unpolished, and unhelpful. Key features of the game since Civ III just don't exist or don't work with no explanation. Unit cycling is broken and everything requires an extra interaction just to get to the point where you can give orders or complete an action. If this were the first sequel a company ever produced I can understand the release being shaky but this is unforgivable from 2K and Firaxis, who have been making steady and noticeable improvements to this game franchise since Windows 3.11. Charging $70 for this nonsense is a crime. Shame on them.

It's very clear this game was released a little early and didn't have enough testing. Even after the first big patch it's still pretty unstable and crashes frequently. Other than that, it's a solid open-world game with some really interesting mechanics and some neat and funny characters. It doesn't feel as polished as an Assassin's Creed game but it's close.

The art style and dialog in this game are really fun. Playing with random people who may or not be complete jerks isn't great, but if you have a whole team of actual friends, this is a fun time.

The Civilization franchise has always been the benchmark strategy game and it keeps looking better and better. The visuals and mechanics in this game are easy to understand and you can get as hardcore or casual as you want with this entry. Would definitely recommend!

Early Access Review
Even in early access this game has a lot to offer. Running down monsters and beating them with a baseball bat? Yes, please. All of the art is excellent and adorable and the skill tree gives you a lot to work toward. It's also got a nice, big map with plenty of areas and items to discover.

This is nearly the best game ever made. Content updates keep it interesting and fireteam features keep it fresh. The one thing I don't like is that Bungie has converted Eververse even more to a microtransaction money grab, but whatever.

Despite being over-hyped and (apparently) under-delivered, this game is an amazing trek through a vast universe with sometimes comically impossible creatures and a big storyline. I went into this game blind: I hadn't ever heard of it before its release and had zero expectations. I love it! It has become an obsession with me to the point that I'm thinking about playing this game all day at work. I understand the ire and disappointment from people who followed it all along and feel lied to and betrayed, but play the game for the game; don't play Sean Murray's interviews.

As more content is added and more patches are developed this game may even live up to fanboys' expectations. Don't give up on it, it's a great game!!
