A very very pretty game that tells a rich story which is honestly moving and heartfelt - I felt invested and immersed in the characters' stories and want to know more about them! The graphics are immaculate, especially with RTX enabled, seeing the light reflect across the scratches and imperfections of the bricks like they would in the real world was nothing short of beautiful - much like the Lego Movie if you've seen it. The developers have really managed to capture the essence of Lego; relaxing and full of imagination.

I completed the game in around 2 hours, which is disappointingly short. However, I bought on sale and feel that the £3.99 paid is justified. I would perhaps stretch a little higher due to the gorgeous and relaxing atmosphere. I would not however buy at full price.

If you like Lego, it's a great little game to pick up. While the story is very short, it has some replayability in that some levels have multiple ways to solve, per the nature of the bricks. The creative mode I'm sure will give many moments of relaxing fun to those interested in building with the resources available. I haven't dived into it yet, just a cursory glance, but it seems that the assets are the same as those throughout the story and the environment can be changed to the different level styles.

tl;dr:
Buy it on sale if you love Lego and want a nice, relaxing 2-3 hour experience.

Also, spoiler: Justice for the robot friend... how do we just leave them down there? After everything they've done for us?! Heartbreaking. :(

Really cool game. Dodgeball is a good premise for a brawl/arena kinda game. Lots of hilarity throwing teammates into trains and turning them into explosives.

However...
Matchmaking system is awful. Too often paired with players much higher rank than you. A little irked that the game costs money to play and then there's an in-game store too. It's EA though so, expected.

I still recommend it and there are many hours of fun to be had but be aware that some games will be steamrolls due to the incompetent matchmaking.

It is quite ironic that the game is developed by a studio called "Stress Level Zero". I was perpetually stressed playing this game.

Firstly, the atmosphere of this game is very intriguing. It has a certain mystique that leaves you wanting to know more about the world in which you are in. However, the story itself is lacking. There are clues to what has happened all throughout the game but it is not really developed outside of the occasional person talking to you on a monitor (which is few and far between).

Now, the physics. First off, everything feels weighted properly and moving things about feels real. The problem? Legs. When doing anything that requires you to climb, your legs will be stuck on something three miles away. I am not sure if this was an issue with my style of play but this is what caused the majority of stress. Perhaps I did not grasp something in the tutorial. Oh well.

Overall, I would say that BONEWORKS should be experienced by anyone wanting an enjoyable puzzle/shoot 'em up VR hybrid. Although my stress levels were certainly not zero, I would be interested to see what Stress Level Zero have up their sleeves next. Perhaps this proof of concept could be fleshed out into something far more substantial?

Right off the bat, yes, there are some glaring bugs and glitches that are mildly annoying. I have yet to experience anything gamebreaking. CDPR appear to be working hard on fixing the worst of the issues.

At the time of writing the review I am yet to complete the main storyline. However, what I have played is standout some of the best writing, world-building and visually impressive content I have ever had the pleasure of seeing through my monitor.

I won't go into detail about the bugs. Or how gorgeous the game looks (and lord does it). Instead, if you are a fan of open world and story rich games, this will blow your socks off.

If the major issues are fixed and some of the content that CDPR advertised makes its way in, for sure, this is a masterpiece of modern gaming. If you miss out on this one, you're a gonk.

EDIT: Yep. I stand by the above. The ending I got in the end felt meaningful and rounded off the playthough in a provocative and satisfying way. I'll be sure to go back and see the other endings and eagerly await DLC a year or two down the line.

This game is easily a masterpiece of the point-and-click genre. It captures the emotion, naivety and aesthetic of 90s internet culture to a tee. An instant classic.

You will laugh, cry, sing and become emotionally attached to what are, on the surface, mere pixels. At a deeper level, these pixels are skilfully melded into one of the greatest exercises of worldbuilding in our modern age. The characters feel so real, relatable and so genuine. The writing is exquisite and, again, masterfully done.

The soundtrack is insanely good. It parodies some well known 90s genres and stars YouTube sensation Hot Dad. Even if you don't like the game, you'd be hard pressed to dislike much, if any, of the OST.

In short, this game is a powerhouse. It has given me many hours of fun and with so much to explore, it will continue to give me joy on a second playthrough.

Buy this game. Hypnospace is really really cool.

I cried at the ending.

This is going to be the game of the decade.

The most fun I've ever had playing with myself.

An incredible singleplayer experience that left me in fits of laughter. Has a lot of replayability - especially in co-op mode with a friend for hours of endless giggles.
