I really want to like this game but every chance I get to play it I don't last longer than a few hours before dropping it. It's way too stealth-centered and it gets repetitive very fast. The game may improve after the first few rundowns but I'll never know

The things I do for my quota...

The networking issues, the progression system, the tons and tons of bugs, the lack of features, the lack of updates. This game is a month old and it already went through a whole bunch of issues, but the biggest one (and the reason for this review) is the lack of communication.
We dealt with this during the Payday 2 development and (given how the community is the only thing that help that game survive for a decade) I really hoped we weren't going to have that problem anymore, but here we are.
It's a shame, this is an alright game. Too bad Starbreeze and Deep Silver are dead set on killing it.

Short but interesting experience. I liked the idea behind the gameplay and how the tension builds up but I feel it could have been polished a bit more. The ending is kind of a let down.

70% detective work, 30% sudoku.
Fantastic game. One of those you wish you could forget and play for the first time again.

This goes far beyond what any run of the mill high quality mod should do. Absolute masterpiece.
A must play.

I get that this is just one chapter, but it's a really, REALLY short one. Like, you can beat this in less than 20 minutes if you know what you're doing, and that is also counting the time you spend watching all the tapes. If this is how long the rest of the chapters are then I won't even bother.

Also, not scary.

First and foremost: this is not a game, despite it keeps calling itself that. This is more of a visual novel.
With that out of the way: I understand what it's trying to do but while the more closed environments look wonderful and the narrator does an amazing job, the barren and boring looking open areas and the clunky and limited mouse movement really take away from the experience. Why can't you let me do a 360º turn? There's one room in particular where you can ALMOST do it (and you can, if only because the camera movement script was sloppily written). Furthermore, the creature is a huge disappointment and it would've been best left to interpretation of the player, which I think was kind of the point on the original short story.
I'll be honest, I'm not Lovecraft's biggest fan ("God, that hand! The window! The window!", dude just jump) and I was hoping this would make me more interested in his stories but it ended up disappointing me as an interactive story and reminding me why I stopped reading them.

Alright, the game was balanced a little better and it became enjoyable while still somewhat challenging. Good job, devs.

Original: The game was fine, I don't know why they needed to buff the ghost so damn much. At least add an extra harder difficulty for the people who are really into that. Now the game is so cold and methodical that there's no place in it for a group of friends to mess around.
I love how the discussion forums are divided between a group who thinks the game is too hard/no nonsense/not fun and another who thinks it's still too easy. I guess this update didn't really end up pleasing anyone.

What's the opposite of "review bombing"? Because that's what's going on here.
The game could be fine if the days were longer and the enemy spawns were more balanced and forgiving, but I'm guessing that's not the point of the game. It's just a meme game made for some guy to play on their Youtube channel, or that's what I gathered from the other reviews. Shame, really.
It doesn't really deserve all those positive reviews, so I'll leave here my little contribution.
