Sometimes a game appears that keeps us glued to the screen for hours with great graphics and a fantastic gameplay experience. And sometimes a game is released that we talk about with our friends for weeks to come. With Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin, however, a game was finally released that rekindled my long-lost love of analog tabletop gaming. That is a real rarity.

Positive things about Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin
+ Greatly written characters that fit perfectly into the Age of Sigmar universe
+ Tactically very challenging game mechanics, especially on higher difficulty levels
+ Various entertaining game modes that require tactical mastery of the game's tactical mechanics
+ An army editor AND a map editor!
+ A fantastic soundtrack, probably one of the best this year
+ Brilliant sound design and perfect voice acting
+ Exciting story that fits very well into the Age of Sigmar universe

Negatives about Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin
- The army selection is sufficient with 4 starting armies, but not a good representation of the massive variety of the Age of Sigmar universe
- Base building is even less than in games like Warhammer 40 000: Dawn of War II
- For even more tactical depth, units need more functions, positions, formations, etc.
- The multiplayer aspect of PvP, PvE and PvPvE can be expanded. Examples such as 3v3 and higher or 8 players all against all are still missing

In conclusion, I can say that Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin is the perfect introduction to the tabletop hobby of the same name and the incredibly gigantic lore of the Age of Sigmar universe. Veterans can lead new armies across the digital battlefield for their next project and try out new color schemes with the army editor. Let your creativity run wild!

A BIG thank you to the developers at Frontier Developments for adapting the Age of Sigmar universe into a digital strategy game with unparalleled love and respect for the original.
