"Suddenly, like a miracle, thirty of our planes flew over. As promised, the squadron from Vinnitsa was attacking. This particular job was easy for them, and every bomb hit home. A cry of 'Sieg, der LuftWaffe!' rang so loudly from our trenches that the pilots might almost have heard it. We opened fire with everyhing we had, but the Russian offensive kept coming, despite overwhelming losses. Our tanks drove at the stricken enemy with an ardour worthy of 1941..."
