TL;DR: TSS brings almost nothing new to the LEGO Star Wars franchise, or Star Wars in general, and leaves an astounding amount out. It infantilizes it’s audience in a glaring misstep for a franchise that is nearly 45 years old and has proved it can grow with it’s audience without alienating it’s many generations of fans. Normally, I’d end with a judgement on whether to recommend a game or not, but this game is special. Not only can I not recommend it, I urge fans to not play it. I urge newcomers to the franchise to stay away from it. This game butchers Star Wars to such an extent that I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this game be anything approaching a first impression for a new fan. It get’s an incomprehensible amount of the movies wrong and omits an even larger, more staggering amount; and inexcusable oversight for a game that bills itself on being the definitive collection of all nine movies.
Do not play this game. If you want to play the first 6 movies in LEGO form, play the Complete Saga. TSS has no reason to exist, and is actively damaging to the legacy of the movies.

Edit: It's been a few months, and the thought of how badly this game handled both Star Wars and the legacy of Lego video games still makes me sad
