Racing experience like no other

To sum up this game, GRID (2019) is a reboot of the old classic GRID series, trying to combine all features that made GRID a classic in Codemasters catalog.

While it has similarities with the older games it feels new and some of the features are kinda refreshed. There are especially good points like the AI but beside that it's no different from what you expect from a GRID game.

The Career
First thing you'll notice is that there are no major flashy cutscenes like in GRID 2 . The game starts straight forward with some races trying to get you to experience them first hand while explaining the main basic mechanics and types of races to expect.
There are 5 main branches to choose, those have their own specific category of cars and other 2 that are just invitational type of events and The Ravenwest Finals. There also new events if you have all Seasons Content DLCs or Ultimate Edition

The Handling & Cars
Overall the handling in this game is arcade , there is a sense of gravity and speed and cars feel like proper cars but there are no simulation physics that you expect from Project CARS or Assetto Corsa not even compared to DIRT Rally so it's more focused for casuals that want a simple racing experience but don't want the stress that comes from a simulator racing game.
The cars are determined by 3 stats (Power, Weight and Traction). You'll feel if a car has FWD, AWD or RWD or if is has more power but feels heavy or if it's weak but light and vice versa.
Luckily the cars feel almost like it should be when it's rain.

As I explained earlier, there are multiple categories of cars: tuners, muscles, stock (like Nascar), GT3s, GT4s and DPIs (LMP1s) and some formula cars.

Unfortunately the only bad thing about the arcadeish handling is that some cars have tendency of going drifting unexpectedly resulting in spinnning out if you're not careful. Sometimes the cars have either have too much oversteer or understeer.
The good thing is that all cars have great sense of responsiveness and once you adapt to those type of cars, you won't experience much issues.

Gameplay & Graphics
The gameplay is simple as in any track-focused racing games. You level up by completing events/championships and win credits to buy more cars. Once you progress further you'll end up having more money until the point you won't even need them anymore.
There are customization features but you can only change the paintjob however you like.
The classic rewind feature is back and the car damage is pretty solid.

There is also the teammate feature. You can choose a teammate to help you in the races, just keep in mind the choose one for that specific category he's specialized because sometimes he'll just be a nuisance and that reflects at the end of the race and how much credits you earn. You can make him attack or defend but otherwise, he's just just other AI that helps you progress even if you don't necessarily need one.
Here's my little tip in case you teammate sucks: make him you nemesis lol

The new AI system is pretty good. Sometimes aggressive and other times they are just very weak but still competitive to a certain degree. The nemesis can be very annoying sometimes because 80% of cases you'll have one because you just scratched him but once one of the AI is your nemesis they can keep up pretty close to your tail, trying to get your position or just get you of the treack. (drama, huh)

The tracks are also great, some of them are comeback from previous titles, some are new and there are hillclimb/togue type of tracks but no drfit events which I wished this game had. (uncool)

The graphics look great, especially being on DirectX 12. The level of details for those tracks are stunning and the cars look as detailed as you can expect from a GRID game (yes, there is copckpit view lol). It's nothing super fancy like Forza but it's still pretty.

The Sound
Personally, GRID (2019) has the best car sounds comparing to any recent racing games. Even if some cars like Formula F1000 sounds like a ''lawn mower'' it's pretty accurate to the real thing. You can hear the turbo kicking in and lots of stretching tires thanks to the handling.

The Multiplayer
Don't expect this to be a Forza type of multiplayer. It's bare bones as you can choose a quick match or create your own and invite up to 16 players in that session which is very good. I'm not playing GRID for multiplayer but playing it with some friends is pretty good and you can still level up from those events. However you can expect it to be chaotic rather than fun.

The bad things & Bugs
The major bad thing is that the game has DirectX 11 included but you can't it, maybe is a personal issue or maybe I don't know how that is not even in settings. If you own a GPU that is not DX12 ready, the game is unplayable.
The second bad thing are the loading times. Sometimes are awful and on career mode you have wait a lot when for example: you start a championship - loads, selected qualifying - it loads again, you finish the qualifier - loads again. The awful thing is that you almost wait the same time for each loading.
A major bug I've noticed is that if you picked your own design for a specific car, sometimes that car won't load at all, forcing you to close the game from Task Manager.
Other bugs are just crashes and being stuck on loading after you finish a race.

In Conclusion
GRID (2019) is a game great reboot game but still lacks some features that could make it even better (like Drift events). The game is easy for everyone to play but still hard to master to some cases. It's not the perfect GRID game but it's not the worst either. The post-launch content is very welcomed and adds more to the experience so far even if for some people it's boring content.
I recommend to buy it as Ultimate Edition because it comes with all the goodies and it's a much better deal.
The price depends on your taste and if's justified enought for you, however I recommend to wait for a sale.
