This game is incredibly fun on the first playthrough. Game runs well, looks amazing and the story is nice. Combat feels good, especially on Leon. At the same time, after the first playthrough I think it lacks a lot..

It took me 8h ingame time and 13h real time to complete the game including exploring & collecting everything and reading every file. I 100% all achievements in 25h (slightly shorter than re2, much shorter than re4).

Unfortunately, this game also has multiple negative aspects where I wish it was better...

The bosses are honestly kind of underwhelming and a big downgrade from re4(r) and re8. Some bosses are straight up recycled from previous games. Some sections in the second half of the game feel very rushed and like they "made up" for it with a ♥♥♥♥ ton of Nostalgia bait.

Inventory management has also been downgraded from re2r/re4r for whatever reason. You can't drag items on top of each other to craft, auto sorting inventory requires you to hold a button for multiple seconds. It just feels clunky when you played re4r

The difficulties suck and hurt replayability just so much. I replayed re2r and re4r like 10 times each thanks to their amazingly designed harder difficulties but can't see myself replaying this game much more. The standard modes are too easy and Insanity difficulty is just a mess. Instead of being challenging but fair, enemies straight up oneshot you from full HP and take 3 entire magazines to kill and don't get staggered whatsoever in the process. The main counterplay as Leon is to either not fight anyone (which for me ruins the entire point of the Leon sections), or spam perfect parry. But your axe will break in a few hits, requiring you to constantly repair it unless you have the infinite hatchet special content upgrade. This entire difficulty seems balanced around using content shop items and infinite ammo/hatchet and is incredibly unfun. It's even more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ than Village of Shadows Difficulty in re8. Such a letdown. I really wish there was a difficulty closer to re4r's Professional or re2r's Hardcore. They're difficult but fair and easily doable without infinite ammo and special content. I think they really fumbled with this and I don't understand why they haven't learned their lesson from re3r's Inferno and re8's VoS. Do they think these difficulties are fun and replayable? Praying they release an intermediate Hardcore difficulty for Requiem.

This game is also so extremely linear, it's unbelievable. Yes, it's resident evil, it'll always be linear, but basically for the entire game there's always exactly one path and no side areas, no backtracking, no optional objectives. The care centre section is the only area where there's any form of backtracking and even there it's just for some ammo and healing. I literally found every single document in my first playthrough, that's how linear it is. In all other re's I missed more than a dozen because they require you to go out of your way to find them. Very different in Requiem, everything is just immediately in your face

Due to all these things, this is probably the least replayable modern RE so far, which is really sad considering this game has a lot going for it. I absolutely loved my first playthrough

I'm hoping they can fix the difficulty levels and will add Mercenaries and a good DLC

What an incredible game! Super fun gameplay, smooth controls, nice story and beautiful graphics while still performing really well.

Separate Ways DLC and Mercenaries are absolutely worth it too

I already replayed the main story and Separate Ways like 5 times and stiiiill want more

My childhood. I used to play it so much on my PS3 when I was a kid and now I loved it just as much on PC (with some QoL mods)

The logic in this game never fails to amuse me. You become boss of every guild, yet despite that, the other members will still make you run errands like you're still the new recruit. And NPCs will give you so much gold just for delivering something to a guy 50 meters away. The absolute funniest thing to me though is when you kill a Mage College member and then Tolfdir is like "ah yes there was an incident, wasn't there? Give me 250 gold and you're back in"

also the SHEEEEEEER NUMBER of GLITCHES... I LOVE it

10/10 would buy again (I already bought it like 3 times noooo Todd Howard how do you keep doing this)

RE7 was my first Resident Evil and my first Horror Game in general

I got kinda fed up at the start while having to evade Jack and figure out what to do in the house with very limited Ammo. And then the basement fight where I didn't realise you could dodge his swings so I just kept dying

But after I got past that and got used to the game (and especially the fact that you can just close doors between you and enemies and they will usually despawn), it quickly turned into an amazing experience. The atmosphere is so creepy, especially the sounds and music. The environment and gore are absolutely disgusting. You almost never feel safe.

The story was awesome and slowly made me flip from hating the family, to having pity with them and eventually actually liking them, especially after the Daughters DLC

My absolute favourite part were the Videotapes and how they not only had an actual impact on the present (like how unlocking the drawer as Clancy would make it accessible to Ethan , and especially the Happy Birthday tape) but also served as Flashbacks and completed the Story (like how the videotape on the Ship makes you (as Mia) send the video message Ethan watches right in the beginning of the game )

The DLCs are all great too, but their low runtime doesn't warrant their high price imo. Thus, I only watched playthroughs on Youtube. The free Chris DLC was an absolute blast though.

The only downside to me was the low enemy variety. Shooting default Moldeds kinda became repetetive. It would have been much cooler if they added all the enemies from Chris's DLC to the base game

I give RE7 a 9.5/10. It turned me into a big Resident Evil fan!

I just started playing Re Village right after (and already love it just as much 4 hours in). I can't wait to also play the other parts, especially looking forward to RE4
