"But I say to you who hear; love your enemies, do good to those who hate you." Jesus was the ultimate example of love to those who did not deserve it. As sinners, we are condemned to hell for all of eternity. Through Jesus' love He died on the cross so that we can spend enternity with Him instead. Believing in Jesus is not a religion, but a relationship. All He wants you to do is be a disciple, to learn and know about Him and what He says in the Bible. If you accept Jesus and believe in Him and what He did, you become forgiven of sin in God's eyes, and you are able to enter into Heaven.
