Sluggish movement, boring combat that seems to think its way better than it really is.

TDLR. It's fine but I wouldnt recommend, hence the "Do you recommend this game? No."

10 hours in, the third-person controls are still very clunky. The way they need to "Rev" up before they start moving is terrible. There should be a duck or dodge key while aiming at least for Leon, RE6 got that right. You point and shoot at spongy zombie heads until they stun or die to a random crit, not very engaging. There is no good way to get out of an incoming attack if something charges you due to the slow movement/windup to running. Parrying is an option, but realistically once per encounter,FOV is way too small awell. Not lots of puzzles for Grace, not complaining about that though, its mostly fetching items and playing ring around the rosy plus hide and seek.

Runs fine, no issues there.

Still has alot of the same issues RE2 Remake had, so if you thought that was meh then miss this.

No comment on the plot as im not finished, but its typical recton sequel ♥♥♥♥ you expect from the 9th entry in a series thats been soft rebooted. The plots were never the best part of these games anyway.

Edit: Grace isn't interesting and really acts like the typical tropey protag in a horror game. Huge thumbs down for the TERRIBLE nostalgia bait of her being an Ashcroft. Didn't add anything aside from "Hey guys! remember outbreak!?".

Edit 2: Finished the story and its fine, really nothing amazing or terrible. Its a resident evil game after all, expect asspulls and the like.

My final thoughts: The scares are practically nonexistent and all scripted, These games were never good at scares. tension is what they do best, not unkillable big monsters. The bosses are a chore that mostly exist to empty your resources ala a resource toll before a new area (RE8 had this). Quite a bit of pointless fan service that took me out of the game to be honest. characters showing up for no reason, and they don't add anything aside from "Oh I know that person!"

DON'T USE CLASSIC SAVING. It's a waste of time that only affects Grace, afaik the balancing doesnt change. Just dont bother, trust me. I was the tough guy that didn't want to be a ♥♥♥♥♥ too but its just not enjoyable.

One enemy type in particular did insane amounts of damage that made me wonder if it was a scripted death, fully upgraded character naturally. As always shooting my way out proved the most effective in the CQC arenas, Very close FOV strikes again here. The FOV did zoom out for one combat section and some cinematic landscape shots so the tech is there. just never used.

Leon was more fun to play as simply because I felt like i was actually playing a game and had some urgency/control over the pace.

My rambles end here for now, solid "Meh" from me. If I didn't mention something directly assume I liked it, because I did have fun and it was an OK game to cruise through on my day off.


5/10. Skippable for most people, get on sale if you are interested. Buy if you REALLY like the recent remakes. Nothing for old heads here.

Slight spoilers

Weak story with the limited amount of choices you have not effecting any outcome. Plot holes and generally falls apart once you start to think about any aspect of the game a little too hard. Your character being as dense as a brick is integral to the plot progression.

Most points from the review of DR1 still stand

Online glitches constantly, terrible boss fights, terrible story, terrible characters.

Genuinely terrible, words cannot describe how delusional you must have to be to enjoy this video game. Avoid like the plague, do NOT listen to people that say its good. Console players will not take off their Rose tinted glasses and lie to your face because they can't admit how mind numbing atrocious this game is. Play it for yourself if you don't believe me, preferably pirate so you don't give Capcom a cent.

Edit after beating the game:
Run, Don't even think about it man this ♥♥♥♥ is the worst video game i've ever played, I'm speechless utterly speechless at how horrible the game is.

It's ight, rather play Demon's Souls or Dark Souls 1.
