I really like Marvel Rivals, I think what the developers are doing is really good. BUUUUUUT.
(Disclaimer, if you want to play casually by all means enjoy yourself that's where the game really shines in my opinion)

It can be the best time of your life, or the worst, and it's most likely the worst and somehow digs itself deeper, and deeper, and when you think you've finally seen it all you are solo support 4 DPS and a venom.

If you get frustrated do not play this game ranked, especially by yourself if you care for your mental stability.

I'll just start off with the easier thing to deal with, characters. The meta is pretty clear, you want to always not play against a set group of characters or deal with a certain combo otherwise your competitive experienced is greatly inconvenienced. Then there's just picks that end up throwing your game like Ultron or Human Torch, not to say you can't be very good with them but team composition wise it can be hard to work with.

Now here's why I really don't recommend this game if you are seeking the competitive aspect, the community. Sometimes you get that team where everything fits into place, I'm sure it doesn't even have to be this game that it happens on but we all know it's rare. But what is common here is that there is at least 1 person who isn't a happy camper and is intentionally, or maybe unintentionally there to just ruin that competitive experience. There is no sense with accountability with these people, they think they do no wrong and you are clearly just the biggest imbecile out there. They do not switch, if you even think of speaking to them they just talk trash the entire game to you. The lack of civil discourse with such people is abolished by their unhappiness with everyone on the team even if the person they are hating on is the MVP/SVP. I can even provide a transcript of how a conversation went between my two teammates.

"Thor you ulted first can you swap to Mag so I can get value out of my ult and I'll swap after?"

"I don't like the way you asked it. I'm staying on Thor."

He asked in a calm, cooperative manner. Everybody on the team was confused on why he took it that way, anyway we lost, backline got straight touched no contest saucey style. Now not everyone is like this and there are very nice people out there and helpful and communicative teammates. But unfortunately those aren't as common as I wish they are. I'm not sure if it has to do with rank or if there something else but Diamond-GM are filled with these people. I haven't spent much time in Bronze-Plat to have a conclusion there and I was one match off of Celestial before taking a break (Still sad I didn't hit it). I don't even have a problem with trash talk, I have 4000 hours in CS I've seen it all, but what I do have a problem with is the issue on why I'm not winning choosing to underperform, blame everyone else, then take no accountability to their own action. Like if I wanted to deal with that I'd just start dating the homies or get a girlfriend while I'm at it.

Also game crashes sometimes don't know why, happens to a handful of people I know and myself as well.

tldr: Main thing, community toxic, other stuff that isn't that impactful in my opinion, defined meta, game crashes.

Like I said at the start, if you just want to play the game just to play it, but all means, enjoy yourself, if you want to be involved in the community or competitive aspect of it, I wouldn't recommend it.

I personally would not recommend this game in it's current state however maybe at a later date.

The gameplay was also not what I thought it was going to be, based on the trailer and description I thought it was going to be very similar to STALKER, it has aspects of it but there isn't any real threats to make you tense. There is no threat that will genuinely terrify you like encounters in STALKER. Now it is my fault for trying to hold it to even half of the standard of a game like that, though what is currently is disappointing and lackluster.

Saying the game is procedurally generated doesn't really feel right. it just seems like the map just rotates around instead of being procedurally generated. I don't know for sure if it doesn't but it's not very random in my opinion.

The game needs work. I think it has potential to be great but I think you should save your money for now.
