Basic Information
Who am I
Just an ordinary gamer & reviewer that creates content for TapTap. [www.taptap.io]

I spend much of my time creating reviews and editing existing guides for video games that I manage myself, as well as managing communities on Reddit and Discord. I would describe myself as a non-starter when it comes to conversations. If you want to attract my attention, simply ask me a question, and I will react almost immediately if not in a few moments, unless I am busy / asleep.

Multiplayer
I don't play multiplayer games with others often, owing to the fact that I don't have many people who I would consider close friends. I dislike playing games with other people since it is often not fun and tough for me to put up with people who have a slower speed than me, forcing either of us to wait for the other, slowing down progression times. So long as we can do things differently, it's fine.

Games
I'm willing to try anything. Outside of games that are overrun with youngsters, I don't have a strong dislike for much. That is, games like Roblox, Fortnite, Call of Duty, and others I will simply avoid.

In general I will often play a game for a minimum of 30mins to 2 hours before giving a review, based on it's functionality and overall aesthetic. If it fails to deliver, I will often stop early. However, if it is a good game. You'll see me easily sink as many hours as I can manage in whenever I can.

Giveaways
I give away thousands of dollars worth of giveaway copies I receive from developers after having reviewed and covered their games. If you'd like to participate in them, follow my Curation and join my Steam Group for announcements. I'd rather others be able to appreciate gaming as much as I do.
Review Showcase

A bit different from the original
If you, like me, grew up with the Gamecube version of this game, you may be overcome with nostalgia while you play it. It's an amazing sensation, but there are a few things that are quite disappointing with this remake.

To begin with, the controls are neither "terrible" nor "horrible," but there are certain quirks, especially while completing tasks like Archaeology with Carter standing right next to you.

This will disallow player input because he is within speaking distance of you, which can be annoying. However, if you recall the original game, planting, watering, and placing seed was a complete nightmare flicking you to the same spot and being a literal hair trigger input away from missing. It's a lot easier now with so much QoL adjustments. Ignore the bad reviews claiming this as it is mostly certain controllers that don't work properly. Xbox works fine. The game isn't or never was designed for keyboard an mouse, but sure could use some polish.

Do you remember the original sprites? They butchered them, Nic, Nac, and Flak. I don't care whether it was for good translation purposes; this is something I am enraged about. Their names no longer roll off the tongue, and the Valley Forgotten Valley? It's FORGET'ME'NOT VALLEY... What on earth were they thinking. Could probably get a mod to change it back.

Aside from this issue, there is another one. If you receive a board request for someone and want to give them flowers or something to expand their friendship with them, you can't do so for the duration of the request, so you have to get it out of the way, which can take some time to get everyone's relationship up swiftly rather than taking an entire season.

I also don't see the whole issue with some users games loading as "Japanese" or other languages... There is a literal configuration option choice separate from launching the game before you are able to launch the game that allows you to choose all of the correct settings.

Animals can't and won't die. This is something I honestly believe should have been included in all SoS games. Remember as a child forgetting to bring your animals in on a rainy day or forgetting to feed them, only for them to tip over and die or even die from old age? That is one thing I wish they had maintained. It provided a deeper meaning to the game as a whole.

Conclusion
This doesn't really add anything to the game. It's just the original game with a tiny bit of polish.

I can see it now, other players coming here from Stardew Valley and other games and declaring "this game sucks" you know that's going to happen. This game has less to do with it being a competition and more to do with it being a genuine game about growth, being good to others, and getting to know the population. There isn't much to do but talk to people, give them gifts, farm, generate money, and live a "Wonderful Life."

There is no multiplayer or anything along those lines. It's an old game that has been rebuilt for individuals who want to relive their youth, as the originals were exceedingly slow with lag and other issues. Many of those faults have been addressed in this remake. Visually it's great, a lot of the slow inventory management and tool management is gone.

Now I'll say something. No, this game isn't worth $49.99, nor is any other game developed these days. On sale, I would recommend it but as of now, only if you truly want to support the developer who brought a lot of good memories to your childhood.
