This game is not just a loveletter to the best Sonic Games of the past 30 years. This is not a case like generations where it's just celebrating the past. This does more. It elevates not only the world, but the characters as well, giving them much-needed growth that reflects the many adventures they have all faced. Sonic, his friends, and even the antagonists such as Eggman have a wonderful and natural personality about them, giving new life to these longstanding characters.

The gameplay in the open-zones is fun. At some points it can feel a bit barren, but being able to freely dash through 10-30 second mini-distractions and build up your rings and objective items feels great and flows nicely.

Cyberspace levels are a safety net. The physics in them are comparatively worsened compared to the open-zone controls. I'd argue that they are the lowest point of the game, but thankfully, the levels are never more than 3 minutes long at the absolute most. They only outstay your welcome if you struggle to reach all of the objectives within them.

The biggest highlight of this game outside of the better-than-average music is the Boss fights. The Open-Zone minibosses are, for the most part, each unique and fun in their own ways, though some are more annoying than enjoyable. However, the main bosses of the games are accompanied by excellent vocal tracks, and feature a level of hype that I have always yearned to be attacked to Super Sonic. The best comparison I can make is to Metal Gear Rising: revengeance.

To top it all off, I believe this game sets the gold standard for what the next 10 years of Sonic should be going forwards. I say this as someone who played every mainline game since the very first; This is groundbreaking for the series, and the passion in both the writing and gameplay shows. It is by no means perfect, as some jankiness exists in both bossfights and the cyberspace levels, but if this were further refined, given a larger budget, and kept on course with the amazing writing, then I have high hopes for the future of Sonic's gaming franchise.

Thank you for this experience.

This game is a standard turn-based RPG with a ton of clever humor. Absolutely reccommend.

Getting punched in the face for pressing buttons.

Breaking your Legs from going down a small drop.

Yet the most broken part of you will be your patience.

I cannot whole-heartedly say I recommend this game. The optimization is very poor, especially for people with AMD Graphics Cards.

Pros:
Weapon and Armor Modification is fairly good, definitely better than in New Vegas. It allows for multiple forms of the same weapon, or straight upgrades.

Settlement Building is very open, allowing for many unique looking buildings and crafts to be formed using the semi-large amount of building blocks you can use.

The enemy variety is limited, but has been more refined than previous titles.

Power Armor truly feels like power armor, instead of Heavy Armor with a battery taped to the back.

Cons:

Graphically, the game is better looking than previous games. However, the optimization of the game is poor. There are locations of heavy stutter, dropped frames, and crashing. There are clipping textures, repeated textures, and graphical errors multiple times. As it is evident as well, the game does not approve of people with AMD Graphics Cards. The game is lousy with errors relating to this. The most noticable was the sudden broken Compass, which was invisible in certain faced directions, greatly increasing the difficulty and frustration until it was cleared with a mod. Other errors relating to AMD cards include Trees and Foliage not loading until within inches of the player, Textures on skin, armor, guns, and enviromental objects loading incorrectly as corrupted textures or placeholders. Another error is bushes and trees culminating together into blurry, square-like meshes. There is also the issue of textures taking very long times to load, remaining horrifically blurry for up to a few minutes.

Combat is good feeling, but gets dull fairly fast. Don't know how exactly this could be fixed, but the game just feels more dull given the feeling.

The guns are vastly less expansive than in New Vegas or 3. There are trash-like but heavily customizable Pipe rifles, but aside from those, there are only one or two other sets of weapons. There is only one type of hunting rifle, a slow bolt-action kind. There is a combat rifle and no higher fully-auto equivalent unless it is modded, and there are only two shotguns unless you count the shotgun mods for Energy weapons. The Gauss Rifle feels far less satisfying, There is no anti-material rifle, no repeaters, the closest thing being the Energy Musket, which is satisfying but deathly slow.

There are many issues with the dull story, and the development of your character being nonexistant, given they are only viewed as good, driven by the need to find your child. It is an illusion of choice, never allowing you to truly feel like you stray from being good.

There are countless issues with the workshop, which will hopefully be fixed by the upcoming Workshop DLC.

Given the status of the game, no, it is not worth buying unless you love Fallout. Especially if you have an AMD Graphics card. Until they fix the countless graphical issues for players, and improve performance, I will be waiting, hopeful for Obsidian to repair the hole in my heart.

The game is utterly amazing. The first RPG I've heard of where you can get through without having to kill a single enemy, if you chose such a path. This game is one of the funniest, darkest, and most twisting and interesting RPGs available, and seriously deserves even more than it already has. 10/10.

It wasn't worth it.
Good game, but bad for keeping pants clean.

I beat several SWAT Officers to death with a bunch of dollar bills held together by rubber bands. He literally died, 10/10 best melee weapon in an FPS.
