This game has been absolutely amazing. I spend a LOT of time just flying around in space, exploring planets and anything else i find like anomalies or whatever. I've only got a few small bases established at this point, trying to unlock more and get to the big settlements, but that's slow going only because again, I love to just fly around and explore, and now that i have a freighter i can send ships off from my new fleet to go do missions and such for me.
You can interact with different alien species, and learn words from their language which kind of makes me think of going back to Everquest in some ways... where you don't automatically know every language and sometimes you CANT understand an NPC u meet haha but i LOVE That, makes the adventure part of it a bit more realistic and neat.

If you love flying around in spaceships, of which there are SO many varieties of and you can upgrade your ship with cool tech, and trade it in towards new ships or just amass ships like right now i have 4 ships, 2 of which i use regularly i'd say, cause i'm working on the others. Also upgrading my freighter takes a lot of work so that's been a focus.

So yea, recommend the game 100%. Fly around, explore, get new Tech, build bases, and with the new update (which i haven't gotten to QUITE yet lol cause i explore so much) you can do something with colonies? super excited to get to that point but yea.. buy the game :) it's fun, you can basically do whatever you want with SOO much to do, and there's a lot of story and plot and lore to find and go through too :)
