A do what you want RTS RPG like Baulders Gate 3 but far more limited

Pro's:

Massive Party size - If you get Pet taming points on all 6 of you party you can have at least 6 pets and 6 party member plus more you can pick up along the way

So Many Builds - Traits Skills Perks Specials

Replayability - Since you can kill companions, factions, and even the main quest giver you can replay this to try something new

Characters - Wide and morally diverse cast with even an Evil Clowns faction!

Averages: Since Im comparing this to BG3 a lot of would be pro's are just averages

Combat - While somewhat dynamic in the DLC base game combat is easy once you understand it. I was facing off against level 13 enemies when my guys were just level 6-7

Customization - Not non-exisistant but close

Exploration - The idea of driving places is cool but when your trying to get back to home to heal and you run into a bunch of combat encounters it gets tedious

Story - Did not care at all for the story as its really a choose your own path kind of story

Voice Acting - Compared to BG3 this is average VA at best

The music is so forgettable i don't even remember a single track

Puzzles - might as well be nothing

Skill Checks - While skill checks are in the game they are spread out and theres so many skills that you might not have the right one or have it high enough

Con's:

Backtracking - There is abundance of backtracking in this game

Sound effects - at main base and all other hubs npc's will repeat one sound or noise every few seconds and it annoying like no other

Money - The Money to be made in this game is very very limited and everything costs way too much even with max discounts and you only get a fraction from selling

Aiming Angles - If you play XCOM and BG3 aiming angles and line of sight are super important yet in this game you can hit things that in those games would be out of sight, like straight through a hillside

Combat - Only in the DLC is the combat different and not just 'you have come across a group of enemies, either shoot them or talk to them, then shoot them.' every combat encounter

The fact that BG3 is in all ways superior to this game show how dated this game is.

Rating 6/10

This game is great fun to replay

Sure at the end of the day if you start speedrunning RE2R you can Finish it(one story) in under 2H30M but thats only a part of the fun of this game. Because you get scored at the end and the game can be finished in 1 sitting your able to go at it again see if you can play it more perfectly go faster be as optimal as possible and also just mess around with the weapons you unlock by doing the achievements. The other reason because if you want to truly finish the game you need to play both characters stories which for about 50% of it is the same and only on the 2nd run do you see the true ending. Another unexpected strength of RE2R is the modding community once you download the custom launcher theres so many mods out there that do everything from fashion to op weapons and camera angles and even First person view mode.

This game is basically a dumbed down action version of RE2 Remake which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

There are three main differences Between this and RE2R

1. Minimal back tracking. There's only one area you'll back track to and its very small
2. Minimal Puzzles in that area you back track in the puzzles are more basic than RE2
3. The Tyrant is the whole game focus. Take Mister X and the Tyrant and running from and defeating them is the whole game aka Nemesis.

They reused so many assets from RE2 you could just call this RE2: Nemesis instead of RE3 but this was also true of the original RE3

Melee is pointless more so then RE2 like not once in the whole first run did i use melee except when i wanted to see how the Hot Dogger works but instead of melee when your in melee range enemies just in cinematic grab you so melee is impossible unless your knee capping.

The best parts of this game are the boss encounters, the throwbacks to RE2, Jill's fluid movement and the dodge button.

unfortunately unlike RE2 the replay value in RE3 is very low. There is no Alt story as it is built into the main campaign and the lack of DLC missions like RE2's 4th survivor means after you beat the game you can go for the sub 2 hour achievement and that's about it for replay value.

The only reason RE3R feels significantly shorter than RE2R is because RE2R has more puzzles and allows you to back track when in reality RE2R can be finished in at least 2H30M and RE3R can be finished in 1H40M

Overall This is just the second half of RE2 with some new locations

7/10

Presentation: 1/1 - Every time Nemesis appears your like "O F***"
Visuals: 1/1 - Even when modded the game looks great
Characters: 0.5/1 - Jill and Carlos's relationship is serviceable at best
Gameplay: 1/1 - Overall game flow is good
Combat: 0.5/1 - added the dodge button which is a true help but also added enemy grappling from longer range
Puzzles: 0.5/1 - nerfed compared to RE2
Horror: 0.5/1 - There's two sections that are scary everything else is just jump scares
Bugs: 1/1 - didn't run into any
Music: 0.5/1 - don't remember a single track
Voice acting: 0.5/1 - Good enough but no legendary quotes or anything

Hmmm What to say.....

Muv Luv Alternative Total Eclipse is about 10 hours shorter than Alternative and doesn't contribute much to the overall story of the Alternative universe.

Lets do a comparison to Alternative

Characters - More culturally diverse, far more male secondary characters.

Story - Far less intrigue and no unexpected or straight mind breakers.

Character development - Far more, not only does the main character evolve but so do some side characters, though there is far too much self reflections that last for a considerable time.

Pacing - Long segments of what amounts to nothing in the context of the story and universe. These happen frequently and basically grind the story at large to a stop sometimes whole chapters at a time. There are a few sections where the main cast just sit in the briefing room talking about how they will combat team enemy team in a tournament and then they DON'T EVEN SHOW THE FIGHT!

Action - Of the 18 chapters around half have action and only half of that includes the BETA.

Ending - Gives us a view from the sidelines of the last day of 2001 but still right in the thick of it.

Overall: 6/10

If you like Muv Luv Alternative and you have watched the Total Eclipse anime then i could see why you'd go through this though the anime broadly covers 2/3rds of the VN. But if you trying to choose this over any other Muv Luv content this will always be the last one you get.

12 hours in, multiple videos, and you'd think I'd have at least learned how to make money but no. I have not a a damn clue about this game

I like my games complex but if its just complex without any GOOD tips and tricks then whats the point? The X4 know it alls on youtube really cant help you as the things they say go right over your head. You cant even rely on the games base original campaign to take you through learning the basics step by step it took me an hour to figure out how to properly track a mission and use the god awful menus in the god awful UI.

Pro's: Wait i have to look them up
Good space combat
The autopilot is a miracle you can even use it in combat
I like that you can get out of your ship in stations and explore
Workshop mods - but nothing for Character models boo
Campaign missions when you figure how to start them are unique and interesting

Average's:
Workable music
Not enough reasons to explore on foot
Voice acting is not great but not bad

Con's:
Terrible UI
Terrible Menus
Ugly Npc models
Terrible new player experience
Poor lighting
The wait times for a ship to reappear if you are on foot too long is insane

I'm not in a position to rate this game but if you want to play a game that's a mix of EVE and star citizen this is the game for you. Be warned learning this game is like trying to play properly D&D table top without a rules book or a GM

If your looking for arcade Space combat and Lite RPG game this is it, and i wish there would be a sequel.

Pro's:
- Great Music
- Great environmental, FX, and Player Ship Design
- Great combat depth
- Good story of redemption
- Down to earth main character who has godlike abilities
- Many different enemy types with different skills strengths and weaknesses
- Boss fights are mostly great
- Good side missions that add character and lore depth
- The cut scenes are great
- Level up system is based on what you do/use
- Great voice acting
- Great Mission variety

Average's:
- Good main character design minus the outfit and hair(which i suspect the studio hasn't done a lot of)
- The open world while having many unique missions feels empty after completing all missions

Con's:
- There are no other characters in-game engine only in cutscenes as talking people are represented with their ships or 2d still images that are used for multiple characters
- There are only 3 weapon types Rocket, Guns, or Laser
- No extra ships there are technically 3 ships you use but one is a prologue only ship and the other only is mission specific. The primary ship is the only one you'll be using 99.9% of the time.
- No customization beyond the dlc skin
- Upgrades are just stat based % increases
- Over usage of the same few 3d ship models for different characters and enemies.
- Full of small non-game breaking bugs

Excellent just Excellent!

Pro's:
- Most or the OG Buster crew lends their voices
- The game has the exact same feel as the movies
- The levels are unique and varied
- Real unPC humor from 2009
- The Destruction, Bustin is dangerous work and the aftermath says it all
- Great story that falls perfectly in line with the movie series as a 3rd entry.
- For an upgraded 2009 game the character models look great
- Sound design is great from Stay Puffs roar to the sounds of the proton pack.
- So much lore to read from collectibles
- The OG songs are back
- The AI partners are actually useful
- Upgrades drastically improve the combat

Averages:
- Controls feel a little floaty at first
- Clunky older UI
- The games OST is serviceable

Con's:
- Doesn't teach you how to dodge
- A bit too much knockdown for my liking
