The only reason I'm not recommending GZW at this time is that the game is currently plagued with cheaters. For the first month after release you would occasionally run into wallhackers, some much more obvious than others, but today my group ran into 3 extremely obvious wallers and 2 who were extremely sus but could have just gotten very, very lucky. Until a better solution is found to deal with hacking, I cannot recommend this game to anyone who wants to play on PvP mode.

(P.S. All 450 of my hours are in the PvP [Warfare] mode. Because of the way GZW is designed, it's more obvious in this game than many others when someone is walling. You go from having fun, tense firefights in the jungle to one guy killing everyone on your side in under a minute.)

4 systems were obliterated in my first game. I rate this game an "Isaac Newton is the deadliest son of a ***** in space" out of "my only purpose is to kill."

P.S. The soundtrack is magnificent, and I highly, highly, highly recommend grabbing the $3 soundtrack DLC's.

It's finally time to explain why I'm giving a game I played 310 hours of a negative review. It's actually quite simple: (1) I left the game running for nearly three days, so ~60 to 70 hours are idle time. (2) I used console commands about 20 hours in to give myself 500% speed, GOD mode so I didn't break my body upon hitting the ground at 500% speed, and max level.

Starfield's "exploration" is begging for a vehicle to speed up the process. To begin with there is rarely anything interesting to find due to the extreme overuse of randomly generated planets, and the only way to find interesting places for outposts is to be flying at very high speeds. I probably spent 20% of my playtime searching for ideal-ish locations for my "secret mountain base" and my "hunting cabin near the lake" that I must have whenever I play a game with base building.

The only thing I truly enjoyed in Starfield doing was building ships. That was probably 30% of my playtime. It's too bad that the ship combat was bland and uninteresting. (Oh, and there are a couple of good quest lines, too. NOT the main story.)

The main problem with Starfield is that it suffers severely from a crisis of identity: it doesn't know what it is or even what it wants to be. The companions are weird and boring. The RPG systems feel tacked on. The crafting UI is miserable. Was it supposed to be a survival game at some point? I think I ended up playing as much as I did out of sheer fascination. I've never played a game so big in scope that felt like it was suffering from multiple personality disorder.

This is way better than it has any right to be. Easily the best Battlefield game I've played in a decade, but it's not Battlefield and was made by a 3-person dev team. I don't get it, I don't care, it's fun, click on heads.

Lacks the phenomenal terror of the original Subnautica but is still a very fun game worth dropping $30 on.
