I was excited for this one, great visuals and concept but like another game in recent years it's just a great visual medium. I can't really recommend this game as the controls feel very clunky on gamepad and mouse and keyboard. I can handle jank combat but the general movement feels so bad I cannot get myself to continue this game unfortunately. This feels more like an early access game that Is heavily work in progress.

In short, techland still delivers a cliche mediocre story but the gameplay is excellent. Less of a horror game then DL1 with the story revolving around the human conflict in the city along with Aidens goal of finding Mia. In dying light 1 the nights were terrifying and challenging in DL2 there's nothing to even worry about other than howlers that start a zombie chase to escape. Although the Dark Hollow night dungeons/buildings were a really cool addition also volitiles are almost non-existent in this game with no similar type of zombie to replace the challenge. Story 4/10 Gameplay 8/10

Let me start off by saying I have half an hour in the game on steam and played around 12 hours on a friend's console. I was really looking forward to this game for about two years but is really underwhelming for what it is. Although I should have expected as much with this being the studios first game and publishing under THQ Nordic. I found the game to be overall bland with the combat very fun. The big problem though is that many areas of the game feel unfinished or need to be worked on. For example the main quest chain requires the player to side with a tribe and conquer other tribes but every time you take one of the factions outpost the dialogue from the rival outpost is the same almost every time. The sound effects are very weak, they seem very much unfinished. The missions feel very work in progress as most of the structure is go to point A do this for me then come back then go to point B and come back again. If not that it's alot of random points on the map for a collect-a-thon sidequest. When you start playing you will notice the narrator in your head that always translates and goes through most the voiced dialogue for you (other than good and evil voices) which I found to be extremely annoying and ended up turning him off completely and enjoyed reading subtitles more while the other mutants you spoke to would just say unrecognizable gibberish. I found that alot more immersive than the narrator.

TLDR: This game was extremely ambitious but fell flat with it releasing for 60 dollars when really this is an early access game that you would pick up for much cheaper. I really wanted to enjoy this game more but most of it feels unfinished and is undeserving of the full price, Wait for a deep sale to buy this game you're not missing out on anything.
