Whatever my Steam playtime says, I have an additional 20-30 hours on the GOG release, and I can say that this game is excellent.

The fights are never too hard even on Insane difficulty (the highest obtainable difficulty below Heroic, which is a different campaign difficulty altogether). I usually don't like (gory) first-person shooters very much, but this game is that exceptional. Godly melee (a katana that, with just 2 skill points, can heal for every blow you land on flesh) and nerfed gunplay by comparison (I've only played this game on Insane, and the damage these peashooters cause is pitiful) really makes for an unusual experience.

The bosses (Gozu, Mezu, and Xing's body), by comparison to some of the tighter and/or more crowded mob fights, are a piece of cake! Since they are bosses, and wear giant armour, you can't melee these ones, so you would need to use your guns (but you won't easily deplete your ammo, as it continually spawns on the battlefield).

Monster variety in this game is awe-inspiring. From your first couple of fights in this game (which are arguably some of the tougher ones; you have no powers, your katana, a revolver, and scarce amounts of ammo for it, capping at 100 rounds - and all demons are bullet sponges), you get a taste of what it's like to fight human and demon grunts (humans and crawlers) without any upgrades. They slowly introduce more through the chapters, and they seem tough to adjust to at first, until the next type is introduced. Birdmen, trolls, warlords, shamans, mothers, berserkers... the final mob fight in chapter 16 really puts your katana/dodge mastery to the test, I know I died a few times there.

The weapon/skill/power upgrade system is very detailed, very easy to upgrade, and pays off magnificently if you know when to use them. Some upgrades are crucial, and should be unlocked ASAP (like the SMG Akimbo, Aswang Hunger + Divider of Heavens, etc.) because they really do make progression less painful once you have them.

The story. Not fantastic or anything, but for an FPS title, it's pretty good. You pair up with a demon who has the same short-term objective as you in the wake of a demonic invasion, even though it's apparent that you both have different motives and ends. By the end, you find out what his role was in the catastrophe that plagued his home dimension, and belatedly spilled into Earth's, but the story is very well-told IMHO.

Altogether, this game is very high quality and only lacks co-op functionality (or even having this campaign available for coop in the sequel, similar to how L4D2 contains its predecessor's campaigns). Its sale price used to be £3 (90% off), but recently the discounts have been decreasing. At the time of writing this review, the base price (£30) hasn't changed since 2013, so get this game on sale. It's a really good deal for the content.

Servers do work right now, as far as I can tell. Got my taste of Battle Royales, they feel as boring as they look.

As functional as PUBG for a fraction of the price, can't go wrong with that.

The store page uses the word "deep", but it is not. I've played mindless action FPS games with deeper story than this.

As the story goes, a couple crash their car on their way home on a rainy day. By some means of twilight magic and indirect communication with his wife, the husband is granted the power to go back in time and guide 4 of the villagers (separately) to not contribute to said crash in any way. I think this guy summarises pretty well where the game goes wrong. Unskippable cutscenes are a pain, it would've been nice if you got to skip them or fast-forward through them when watching beyond the first time.

As a game, this was terrible, but as an interactive story, with less repetition and going in circles, this may be good.

I don't think I can write a review that does this game justice, but I'll try.

If you couldn't tell from the store page, the mechanics of the game are static; you can create up to 4 clones, and switch your main consciousness between these 5 instances of yourself, but they will all move in unison. Each puzzle's goal is to collect an Orb, and your obstacles are 3 colours of light - purple, red, and blue. (No point in explaining each function of these colours, much easier to play the game to understand.) The challenge each puzzle offers slowly increases as you progress further through the ship, so it never catches you by surprise. You don't need to collect every Orb before each milestone to progress, but you do need to collect all 124 Orbs (not individual Orbs - after a while they're collected in sets of 3, then sets of 9) to unlock the ending, so you may as do each puzzle while you're still close to them.

As for the story, you start off ejected from an unknown ship/station in an escape pod, implied to have happened against your will (from the way the character is flailing at the window), and you crash-land on a planet (Chori V) where you find a teleport to a space station, the Theseus. You make your way through the ship, at points coming close to somebody else who seems to be partly talking to you and partly to themself (I recommend turning on subtitles as it may help illuminate you more during these bits). As you travel, you piece together what happened before you arrived, from both sides of the story.

Now, I won't pretend to be a philosopher or intellectual and say this was 2deep4me (or u), but this game has definitely been more memorable to me than other puzzle games I've played, because transhumanism is one of my favourite aspects of science fiction, and both the mechanics and story revolve around it very heavily. As the player in any game, you're expected to take the game as it is, and not think about the bodies you leave behind, or strand in midair to fall to their deaths, or disintegrate to clean up any mess you'd leave behind. Instead, the story instead shows the perspective of the scientists behind the technology, who disagree over the ethics of using the Swapper but can agree they would do whatever it took to survive and retain their own identities. There are 2 crucial moments, one being 2/3 through the game, and is taken from you and is ultimately a decoy, and a second one at the end of the game where you make a decision, on your (personal) stance. Having only chosen one ending, I don't know what would've happened if I had chosen the other, but I found the final scene moving in the best way. The entire game was hauntingly amazing.

Bottom line, I would recommend this to anyone who likes good puzzle games with great story.

Compilation of flash episodes freely obtainable online (separately), this is still a flash game and as such, it has buggy achievements. Not worth the price for such a short game (don't be fooled by my playtime, actual gameplay was 2 to 3 hours and the rest of that time was my attempts to unlock the "Whole Story" achievement in vain).

Game is good enough to be worth looking up online, but don't waste your money on this Steam version.

It's cute (something I can't overstate for this game), with an aesthetic that looks hand-drawn (which works in its favour), where the puzzle mechanics are colours (the primary colours for this game being red, blue, and yellow, and the combination colours being green, purple, and orange). The game is 40 levels long, which isn't too long or too short. You'll probably end up overthinking the solutions on a handful of these, but they almost always tend to be simpler than you thought (I only ever gave up and used a walkthrough for the final level, then realised I was close to the actual solution anyway).

The soundtrack is so quiet it's basically nonexistent, so you might as well mute the in-game music and play your own - I'd say this is a good "podcasting" game.

Good storytelling, it's basically a 90-minute art tour (not a boring one). Worth getting it if you're fans of his first creation, The Stanley Parable.

Good sequel, with a few new features:
  • room for (im)precision beyond right angles
  • new blocks, like laser-emitting blocks and path-switching blocks
  • zero-gravity areas
  • movable/adjustable floating platforms
  • a fidget spinner
I recommend getting on sale, considering how short it is.

This game is short (about 5 hours) and beautiful. There are bits of story scattered around the world here and there, and 6 (very simple) puzzle rooms dotted around the place if you have a keen enough eye to spot the clues/details and locate the entrances, but that's not mandatory. You always have the option to do nothing more than fly around and drink in the sights while listening to the game's relaxing music.

Original review
Looks great, and controls are perfect, but for a game with "Memories" in the name, you'd think there'd be a way to recall anything (important) you read in this game. Sadly, some texts are only shown once, so I'll need a guide next time I play this, which in itself is a hindrace - I really liked the game's ambience.

Child-like colourful aesthetic, simplistic controls (although running/jumping mechanics and limitations are similar to Assassin's Creed games, as other reviews note), and a nice long story, even if the pacing doesn't seem to fit at some parts. Wouldn't call it boring, unless you plan on sitting and playing it nonstop for more than 2-3 hours at a time.

(Collecting enough collectibles unlocks God Mode, if you ever find the combat and teeming hazards (literally white goo everywhere) tiresome.)
