Playing on hardest difficulty was still passable with enough planning, always a win in my book. This game's core campaign is nice; good writing with decent clue-hunting segments, cast of characters worked well, etc. Game's combat mechanics were slightly irritating but worked in my favour most of the time - I imagine this is similar to how combat in tabletop games would play out IRL.

Never tried out any campaigns from the Steam Workshop, just stuck to the one that came with the game. Looks like the only thing different between each title is just the main campaign, but I'll know for sure once I play Dragonfall (different story, different protagonist and supporting cast, briefly mentioned at the end of this game's main campaign).

Not a bad port. Gamepad support is nice too, less annoying to play with than mimicking swiping motions with your mouse. The game looks better, since it's not played on a tiny phone screen.

Who knew getting repeatedly rammed in your blind spot could be so fun?

Fun short game, engaging little story to accompany the cute pixelated puzzles. More deserving of your money than Ronin would be, at least - this one's actually thought out.

Soundtrack is short, but I personally loved it all the same. It's basically a synthwave boss theme OST for the most part (basically the tracks are grander than HM2's OST). Whenever I died to the first boss, this was what kept me coming back long enough to really get into the combat system. If you have any interest in the soundtrack on top of the base game, I advise checking it out here, so you can make sure you know what you're buying.

Mp3 format only, metadata messed up, and the files seem to be slightly corrupt (I redownloaded the album several times to confirm and then asked a friend to check his own). Just buy from Bandcamp, FLAC is included there and metadata isn't problematic.

There are good songs on this album though: Apex, Fury, Twilight, and Bone Dry (this one was the reason I wanted to buy it) were my favourites.

Even off-sale, this is a great deal considering the price vs the content (FLAC as well!). Dust, Rust, In The Face Of Evil, The Way Home, all 4 of Act 6's (and most of Act 5's) fight tracks, Abyss, and even the trailer theme (Escape From Midwitch Valley).

10/10 could listen to Divide on loop all week

I'm struggling to compose a review that'd do this game justice. The concept of a stealth-RTS game is unique enough that only 2 predecessors exist (Commandos and Desperados). Commandos was the first of its kind, set in WW2 but completely 2D (no 3D, no rotatable camera). Older/more experienced gamers will probably know all about this one already. (No idea how Desperados relates, since people say this game is a mix of both but don't elaborate on what Desperados had. If you're thinking of getting either of these classics, I recommend buying through GOG instead of Steam, they actually make sure their old games can run on newer systems, whereas Steam sells them as they are, with zero modifications.)

Have you ever hoped that the brotherhood feature in Assassin's Creed games allowed for more tactical maneuverability than the single press of a button it turned out to be, where a few assassins dropped in, killed any hostiles in the vicinity then ran off? Where you could plan distractions, time your routes and generally not just have to resort to hacking your way through the enemy? This game is basically that feature, taken and expanded into its own game, set in feudal Japan (imo, one of the best historical settings ever).

Your party is a band of 5 (full disclosure: you only play with all 5 together for technically 2 levels, both in the later part of the game); 3 ninjas, a sniper (and his pet tanuki), and a samurai, who is effectively the protagonist, as he works directly for the Shogun. The story is far from the main aspect of the game: the Shogun, wanting to maintain peace in the region, stamps out a couple of rebellions by sending his blades to infiltrate, reconnoiter, and sabotage where they can. There is a badge system (9 badges for each of the 13 levels - 7 if you don't count the hardcore and speedrun badges) for the completionists out there.

Can't think of many reasons to buy this game over not, except that it works, has VERY few bugs, and is a high-quality creation in a niche game genre (stealth RTS - RTS in that it has the top-down look, and the entire map is dynamic with so many moving parts/people). There is a lot of detail and attention put into every single level, to the point that you see speedrunners frequently use them to their advantage. Also the quicksave/quickload system (save-scumming) puts this game above Commandos.

The downsides are that any bugs encountered usually break the flow/game, like a certain level where a dude is supposed to walk constantly back and forth between 2 spots in a bathhouse, but at some point he will stop moving if you're not fast enough (devs confirmed it was a scripting error, and said they'd patch in the update that would sync with console release, but apparently people are still having issues). Speedrun badges are a headache too, since the game still counts the time you'd already spent, when you reload. Shadow mode not actually freezing the map is another thorn in my side, and this guy highlights this particular issue a lot better than I could ever hope to (didn't experience any problems with AI or camera controls myself).

Seems a little hypocritical to recommend this game even at full price, when I got it for £10 in a Humble Monthly, but the amount of effort evident in this gem should show you that it's worth it.

If you do decide to get this game, make sure your first playthrough of every level is on hardcore difficulty, so you can experience how tough this game can really get (you'll be save-scumming anyway).

Never would have intentionally bought this game, got it in a Humble Monthly a while back. Achievement triggers are broken (much to my chagrin), it's a mix of the more tedious bits of text-based adventure combined with the more snail-paced bits of walking sims, and the whole deus ex machina ending (spoiler) makes the premise fall flat. Just watch a YouTube playthrough, unless you're one of those people stupid enough to buy and play Firewatch themselves as well.
