♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the building system update changes EVERYTHING. It's like an entirely new game. If you ever played this and wrote it off because of the clunky building, reinstall.

Like a Tolkien verse, but the subject and some random verbs are replaced with procedurally generated gibberish and flayed and/or burning goblins and/or dwarves.

Sure are a lot of angry reviews with 0 hours played of Elite Dangerous recently. Weird. :hmmmx:

It's fine. It's not perfect, it has some issues. If Elite's core gameplay bores you, this isn't going to change your mind on the game as a whole. It's unpolished, but I saw nowhere NEAR the issues that people were claiming in the negative reviews. Turning down shadows and a few other settings yielded generally smooth performance on an 8-9 year old GPU.

This was worth buying on sale just to be able to get out of my ship and look at it on foot.

Playing this game after playing Rimworld feels like someone swapped your kid with another kid, but the kid they swapped it with is similar enough that you don't care. Sure he's missing parts of his lower body, and you suspect a few of his organs aren't fully formed, but they'll probably grow in over time.

Doesn't marry the two genres well enough; farming feels rushed and at the mercy of if you found enough 'quick cash' seeds or broken items (Vinaigrette is a golden ticket in most games), and the shooting part feels unsatisfying and frustrating unless you're at a very late month. And even then, you can get screwed if you get the wrong weapon, or the WRONG UPGRADE on that weapon.

Too many of the weapons feel unfun to use, which is an unforgivable crime in a shooter. The vast majority of enemies try to run away from you, and combined with having a literal third of a screen width in range for most weapons make engaging things an exercise in frustration when there's 30+ bullets on screen and Mr. Rabbit ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is running for the edge of the map, again.

The starting weapon and SMG have the SAME RANGE AS SHOTGUNS for the love of god. Fix this one thing and the default gunplay will feel much, much less frustrating.

And stop making things charge at/shoot at you from off screen un-telegraphed. The wasps in the Field biome do this a lot, but most 'run at you and touch you' enemies are capable of it.

Is there no LAN play? Servers seem to be perpetually ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ themselves. Please tell me if there's an option to just play LAN with... people I exist in meatspace with.
