Well, it is Terraria, so it'd probably be better to check the reviews there.
Though changing Terraria to ones taste makes it even better, so what's not to love?

In its current state I sadly cannot recommend the digital version of Gloomhaven anymore.
It doesn't seem like the latest update was tested at all and there's some bugs that literally make the game unplayable (e.g. certain UI elements like cards simply not showing up at all or being unselectable) paired with tons of annoying smaller bugs (e.g. camera moving automatically and being unable to be moved manually when anything happens making it harder to take the time to see what you want to see to plan your next turn, UI elements showing that should not show and being on top of relevant UI elements that can't be seen in any way due to this and many more) and terrible performance (opening some UI elements makes FPS drop to <20).

If you still want to enjoy Gloomhaven digitally (which I absolutely do recommend!) you're currently much better off with Tabletop Simulator.

It is similar to pokemon, but it's better in every single aspect. Besides obviously overall balance not having any RNG in combat is probably the best part.
If one enjoys creature collectors I can't imagine disliking Temtem.

While I personally believe PvE could've been a bit harder there's many people complaining about it being too hard, so I'd say the difficulty seems to be in a good spot.

edit: Whatever you do, don't treat it like an MMO though. Bizarrely a huge part of the playerbase will try to lynch you for that (which... wouldn't even be possible if this game didn't have MMO features at all, so that part is quite absurd).

Also, to talk about the battle pass:
It's definitely a fair design, if you complete a pbattle pass you get enough premium currency to only need 5€ more to buy the pass and you'll get enough currency back from that for the next one (and as long as you always complete a pass you buy you'll always get back more than it costs so you'll be able to buy every single pass with spending 5€ once while even gathering some premium currency to spend on other things too)

Doesn't detect Steam Controller settings, nor does it allow controller buttons to be rebound ingame, If the default settings cause any issues there doesn't seem to be any way to fix it.

Honestly the first time I'm wishing the game wouldn't detect my controller at all, so I could at least use it to emulate keyboard instead of it being entirely unusable.

well, honestly... didn't play this game much as you can see and i honestly don't see how it ever got this popular. it just got incredibly boring after the... first 2 games. i mean, people probably have watched gameplay anyways and know if they might enjoy the game. i actually thought i did, as i liked the idea and watching gameplay was fun for longer than i enjoyed actually playing the game, but it still certainly isn't entertaining to anyone. ---for some reason formating doesn't work anymore so i'm filling a-line like this---------------------------------------------------------------------now it's literally unplayable without an epic account now. as that requirement didn't exist when i bought the game it definitely feels like it's nothing but a scam for everyone who ever bought (and wanted to play) this on steam. even if you do link the account some people can't get it to work and it also seems to force people to accept the new ToS by not giving any option to decline or even preventing you form quitting the game (task manager usually still works, but sometimes it even manages to crash the task manager forcing you to restart your computer just to quit this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ program) - so even if you still want to play it i'd certainly wouldn't recommend getting it on steam at this point, as it's pretty much epic exclusive...

people complain that this game isn't the alpha.
yes, it has changed, but it's still fun, more so than the alpha.

Comparing the Enhanced to the original, this one offers:
- 6 new legendaries with fixed parts
- FOV slider
- infinite bugs, even worse in multiplayer (e.g. randomly deleting equipped gear on joining other players)

No reason to ever play this over the original.

if you value your sanity stay away from this as far as you can. take the most toxic community you can imagine and multiply it by 10 and you get smite.

if you're hoping to play a game the way it's intended stay away too as there's an insane amount of bugs

update 2022: it's growing even worse, some people even start insulting you in the pick phase and stay afk the entire game just spamming insults

update 2023: at this point it's basically a bug with some gameplay on top

first things first: absolutely don't buy it if you mainly want to play the multiplayer part (while i haven't tried it myself yet i have no reason to doubt those who claim it's laggy when nobody claims otherwise)

if you consider buying this take it as a singleplayer only game.

why do i still recommend this game?
-singleplayer still is a good amount of fun if you like hack & slash games.
-the story is quite enjoyable (obviously this always depends on personal opinion)

if you want to get the most out of the game you can still play the multiplayer missions on your own.

minor problems:
-changing keybinds can be problematic. you should definitely check the keybinds first before you actually start playing
and change what you think should be changed. (if you try to change them ingame it might not work)
-if you plan on playing with (mouse+) keyboard you should probably change the default keybinds since they are pretty
weird and require you to have 3 hands (WASD part, JKL part + mouse/numpad for camera?)
-if you tab out sometimes you can't move the camera freely, to fix this simply open the menu and close it again. (TAB)
-the game always shows xbox controller settings ingame so you need to know your settings (or look up the config)

it took me a while to come up with my preferred keybinds but other than that you won't have any problems ingame
i personally used this:

attack: LMB
guard: RMB
item: F
inspect/acces: C
jump: space
lock on: R
step: shift
awakening: X
skill 1-4: 1-4
item left: Q
item right: E
skillset up: ctrl
skillset down: alt
menu: tab

note that menu can't be changed and you can't bind mouse buttons (attack and guard are default settings) so you sadly can't use any thumb buttons you might want to use.
also you only need one of the skillset keys since you have 2 skillsets and both up/down always swap to the other one.

it isn't murder if you just ask someone to play a game with you (who then proceeds to lose his will to live)

10/10 play this game with people you want not to enjoy their lives anymore (this obviously includes any friends you might have (or have had after you got them to play this game with you))

regarding the game itself: it's actually quite fun (i personally love it) if you enjoy challenges, the game wants you to lose your hope of beating it, the game wants to beat you in any possible way you can imagine (i can imagine it would try to beat you up if you'd ever meet it in some dark corner), so if you enjoy a challenge like this have fun to show that you're the one beating the game and not vice versa.

sadly i wanted to play this game with at least one friend but everyone i've ever played it with ended up not wanting to continue, so i haven't completed the game myself (and i'd also recommend against playing alone and if you ask me i'd tell you to always play it with friends as i believe there are some places you can't reach alone) not vice versa.
