Continuing the over-the-top story of B.J. Blazkowicz with even more Nazi killing What's not to like?

Graphics 7/10

Not the best graphics out there but you hardly notice since faces are mostly out of the picture. There's no time to stop and stare at visual details

Sound 9/10

I'm no audiophile. Now that we got that out of the way, this game has very good sound design IMHO. Played it with an HD 6XX connected to a Xonar DX and sound is totally fine. The voice lines are my only annoyance because they can sometimes obscure some vital details.

Performance 10/10

ZERO issues there. Virtually constant 144 FPS throughout the game

Overall 90%

Word of advice that applies to all games. Don't buy games at $60 because no game is worth that price. $60 is a lot of money that could be better spent on a yearly subscription that would grant you a lot more games for your money. Failing that, get them at a discount.

This software requires no introduction. Just look around to get the best deal and if you don't trust third party sites like ♥♥♥ then I recommend you wait for a steam sale before buying

I played this game in the early 2000s before Steam was a thing and it was a solid RTS. Definitely recommended for all skill levels

Let me start by saying that I really enjoyed my time with this game. Yes, it is over the top action. Yes, the AI is almost always silly even on the second hardest difficulty. Yes, it is linear. You'd think that a game with all these checkboxes would be bad but it was so good that I ended up playing it again with the other timeline just to see what would change. This is a game that doesn't try to check all the boxes but makes sure that the boxes it does check are done Extremely well. If you want an adrenaline fueled rampage through an alternate timeline, This game is a must have.

Story 7.5/10
Gameplay 10/10
Sound 9/10
Graphics 7.5/10 (Judging by the state of graphics in 2014 that is)

What are my gripes with this game? Here they are

1. Has no support for 144Hz refresh rate
2. No SLI support but that's a fault of Open GL more than the game itself
3. Id tech 5 was dated even in 2014 and it shows in the game's graphics when you compare them to BF 4 for example

The BOTTOM LINE is, this game is well worth the $20 asking price in 2019.

DOOM II was the first game I played in this iconic franchise when I was a kid. That game had the ability to keep me immersed for hours on end. I didn't expect any other game to give me the same feeling until I played this game. This game took everything that was great about the older DOOM games and improved upon it. It's a very focused product. Id software knew exactly what they wanted to create and successfully realized their vision for this game. The weapon upgrade system adds some fantastic bonuses and the runes are the icing on the cake.

Graphics 10/10: One of the best games of 2016 when it comes to graphics. When you max it out it's visually stunning. The level of detail is INCREDIBLE. DOOM was always a technical achievement ever since it was first released in the 90s.

Sound 10/10: Mick Gordon REALLY outdid himself with the soundtrack. It's timed very well and really enhances the overall experience. Easily the best soundtrack of 2016

Level Design 10/10: It's probably the BEST thing about this game. The demon battles are very well thought out. The verticality greatly enhances the gameplay

Story 7/10: The story is the weakest part of DOOM. Some may call it silly. I'd like to think that's because everything else is so well done that the story is overshadowed

Of course, DOOM is not perfect and there are some issues I ran into with the game and they are:

1- NO SLI/Crossfire: The lack of multi-card support is really unfortunate. This game is so much better when it's running at a high frame rate. It's not something you expect a big developer like Id software or Bethesda to ditch.

2- Over 95% of the time, the game crashes when you try to quit. I couldn't find any solution to this issue. I have verified that it's not limited to my PC

3-If you unlock any mastery weapon mods during a mission and then restart it, you will have to unlock them again. The same applies to upgrading runes.

Even with those issues,I would definitely recommend this game to anybody who was a fan of the DOOM franchise or the FPS genre in general.

This game is absolutely great. The art design, the levelling, The color palette , the SOUNDTRACK, the voice acting, the mechanics, and the story are all INCREDIBLE. I picked this up as a recommendation from Total Biscuit's Youtube channel which you should definitely check out if you love video games. Once you finish the game you get to start again with all your unlocks and upgrades if you wish to replay.

The only thing I would change about this game is that I would add multiplayer transistor battles with everyone choosing their power at the beginning of the match. they'd also have the option to import their configuration from the single palyer story.

Can't wait for Pyre which is their next game and it will be out next year

It's the same great experience, only now it supports high resolutions without a problem. I was just a kid when it was first released and playing it again brings back many fond memories. The addition of steam workshop is great. New content via DLC helps revive this classic.

Of course there are some problems and the most noteworthy issues are:

1- The same bugs that existed with the original version are carried over to the HD Edition as well. You'd think 15 years are enough to solve evey bug in the game but clearly they didn't even attempt to do so.

2- On my QHD monitor, the UI scaling is very poor and the icons and fonts are sharp but very small. I have tried fiddling with every scaling option in Windows or the GPU drivers and the sacling hasn't improved at all

3- Old saves from the original game can't be loaded because they cause the game to crash.

4- Enabling or disabling Vsync causes the game to crash

5- The game can suddenly crash without a known reason during gameplay. Make sure you save FREQUENTLY.
