- little content for 6 months
- badly paced storyline which appears to be very low budget considering the size of the game
- battlecontent kinda stale since its been practically the same for 3 expansions (promised "increase in difficulty" is almost unnoticable)
- massive tech debt that isnt being worked on (cross world parties, logical datacenters, hats/glamour for new races, server tick rate, buff/debuff limits)
- bad endgame balancing compared to the last expansions even though most jobs havent changed much

Early Access Review
The game needs a lot of work before it can aspire to be as good as POE. However, that still makes it the second best ARPG on the market. Would recommend for those who like stressfull games. If you dont, well there is POE for you. Its pretty much POE2 but with better balancing and more gameplay options (but it does lack WASD movement and the accursed dodge roll).

BG3 is a great experience and overall worthy successor to D:OS2. The game has a compelling story with interesting and rememberable characters, a distinct visual- and audio-style, and okay performance. This is one of the few games I dont regret buying at full price.

the game cant really stand on its own, mods keep it barely alive. But there are things even mods cant fix, like the broken war or political system. Its honestly quite hilarious, after releasing HOI4, one might think Paradox knew how to build a decent war system with decent AI, but no... War is barely functional. AI will intervene seemingly randomly in wars far away from their country. You cant manage your troops, set specfic defensive positions or even use the most basic functions you would expect in a game about war. You get a frontline with a general and set them to either attack or defend, nothing else. You want to hold the mountainline and let the AI grind against it while cycling your other troops? Well tough luck, there is exactly one frontline and only 1 (ONE) single battle can happen per frontline at a time. You cant manage your troops, sort out reinforcements or even cycle them, you have to pray and hope the Ai just holds for you.

But beyond the missing micro aspect of war, its also severly lacking in general strategic depth. You get declared on by a massive power, barely hold and finally push them out and win? Well good for you, except you didnt add any wargoals at the beginning (because you didnt think you'd actually win) so have fun getting nothing out of that war. You as a british puppet declare war on a small regional power that has no other alliances or defensive pacts? Well unlucky, because the UK just sided with the enemy, not with their own puppet.

The economics system is also barely functional. Beyond being laggy as hell, its just the same 2 things over and over again, build more buildings and mange your Production methods. Its not even as fun as vic2, as you have to micromanage everything about it. And i can see why thats the case, the game has barely anything to offer outside of constructing buildings and switching Production methods.

Wait like 3 to 4 years, maybe then they'll figure out how to copy/paste the vic2 war system.

Sadly have to revise my review, the developers decided to now include mandatory tracking software with the game that will track your web activity. Cannot recommend if you are in any way concerned about your privacy. But on the bright side, your not missing out on much, its barely any better than Kingmaker.

Incredible story. Although it takes its time to pay off, it is 100% worth it.

Combat is very slow early on but gets reasonably fast around lvl40.
