I read there is some progression in the campaign? Is the campaign, or progression at all, available in multiplayer?

I'm a fan of the old tower defense games in Warcraft 3 but since Blizzard transformed into an evil villain I'm not interested in using the battlenet launcher anymore, is this standalone worth buying? Are people playing it?

Can anyone do something about this? This player is Number 1 on Ranked random and good rank in Ranked The strategy was to sup all his towers. However, I couldn't understand how he was doing it. He would leave the tower at level 2 and keep upgrading it to level 3, then when it reached level 3 and suported one of his towers, he would turn it back down to level 2, and keep repeating the process until all his towers were suported.
