A lot of reviews go for a comedic edge and spout nonstop injokes and nonsense, so I'm here to tell you if you are debating buying this game, you absolutely should, it's the most fun I've had with a shooter game since Titan Fall 2, it's incredibly satisfying and fast paced. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Crosscode is a game that I have incredibly mixed feelings about, but I'll try to keep this review brief. I think the game has good fundamentals for its combat and core gameplay loop, and an amazing story. However, I would describe many of the enemy types present in the game as a sort of collection of the "Worst Hits," of all enemy types. Around 1/4th of all enemies run away from you, and are untargetable to you until you do their mechanic, often hitting them rapidly when they become targetable. The dungeon and particularly the puzzle design is top notch.

It's hard to recommend any anime game to anyone, much less an SAO game. If you're down here checking out the reviews you probably want to buy it deep down but you know that most anime games are ♥♥♥♥ so you're just crossing your fingers and hoping someone can confirm whether or not the game is good. This game absolutely needs to be played with a controller, because the KB&M controls are atrocious from what I've heard, so if you don't have a controller you should turn away now. It goes on sale for under $10 quite frequently, so wait until there's a sale.

Story: It's an SAO spinoff set in the non-canon SAO gameverse, so in otherwords, it's not that great.

Gameplay: Lots of different weapon types for I assume different types of people, but in my 40 hours I haven't preformed much experimentation, because to my monke brain, why would you want one stick when you can have two. The game has enough to keep your monke brain entertained; But you'll see in every screenshot on the store page that there's a command window open like an actual MMO. You're going to want to find the way to bind your attacks to command inputs, otherwise you'll just be using the dpad and B for the whole game. After doing that the game will feel like an actual action game, rather than a fake MMORPG. There are some mechanics that make the game feel like a rhythm game at times, and it can be fun to lose yourself in the groove of combat for a little while.

Music: Unmemorable at best.

This game is solidly mid, if you know how to make it mid, if you don't the game is boring as hell.

The game uses systems that are intentionally designed to be as addicting as possible to try to keep you playing, from things like Engagement based matchmaking, Where every time you start to do well, as a bronze player you'll run into players who are above the diamond rank. Lootbox progression slows down every 100 levels. The devs have left their other multiplayer games to die, letting DDoSers run rampant literally making the other games unplayable. It'll happen to this game sooner rather than later, so don't bother spending a dime on the game.

Like skyrim with magic.
