It's time to transition away from Ausmerica, a username I have had for around 15 years now. Originally it was intended as a throwaway name for a couple of livestreams, back in the days where you could chat without an account. It was just something to fill the space and for no discernible reason it was the first thing that came to mind. I'm British, I have no heritage nor history with America, nor Austria, nor Australia, so I can't explain why it was something that I had in my head ready to go at that time, but there it was, and somehow it was sticky enough to stick.

Unfortunately given today's political climate, despite the fact that the name has no ties to America, I don't want an association with the country. Good people understand why.

Maybe one day a new username will pop up for me, maybe one day the world will be a better place and I'll be able to transition back, but until then Stripe Gurger will have to do.
