I don't think it deserves the hate it gets. Although it this is the opinion of someone who has only played and experienced Final Fantasy 13, 14 and 15 before this so I am a more recent consumer of the franchise, but I don't believe playing any other Final Fantasy is necessary to enjoy this one.

One thing that had me picking the game up on and off over the last 6 months was how tedious the side quests were. Doing them before continuing the story did feel like a chore at first how many the game throws at you in between main story quests but the extra story and lore made the main scenario a bit more impactful and worth it for the first playthrough.

Would highly recommend trying the demo first before buying since progress will carry over.

10/10 smack friends with brooms and be forced to click out of jail 1,000 times.

Button mash n' pray

I played the version of Tera that was under En Masse before that closed down but still have roughly 100+ hours total when I'm writing this review. It's a nice game to come to for just chilling out and grinding but to me there's no real end game that makes me wanna still put in as much time from grinding from the bottom up. It's nice to create other characters and try out different classes and races though.

Fun puzzle game with a unique story.
The soundtrack makes it all better.

Not enough hours to give a good opinion

Alright folks- I hit the 2 hour no-going-back automatic-refund-denied point of this game. Let me tell you about the experience you can get in 2 hours:

~> Thrown into a puzzle right off the bat
~> Meet the key characters
~> Cheating
~> If you're playing on easy mode and get the handle of the game pretty quickly: running away from a literal ass monster
>>>You heard me right. An ass monster. A literal butt chasing you and trying to devour you.
>>>>And that chic you're cheating on. You monster.
~> Questioning your love life
~> Being interrogated by a man that sounds like a woman on crack
~> Many many quotes that make you think and question everything you live by.

But to sum up whether you should buy this game or not and if you're probably gonna go through a mid-life crisis while playing it: Yes.

Now if you'll excuse me while I try to fix this grown man's life for him.

But yet I can't stop playing it.

This game is beautifully made and sometimes I play it over and over again just so I can catch that sense of missed message people may not see sometimes. Plus it really put close to home. I suggest checking it out for sure, especially since it's free.
