I hope the community can also "pre - flag" or blacklist games that crash often or have problems. Sure you could launch any game, but you at least would know before hand which fail or need attention from their developers, so is motivation for them to fix their stuff.

I think there's still time to make the Steam machines launch experience much better!

We've looked at the xdg-app system, but until they can support OpenGL it's a non-starter for SteamOS.

GPU is too old.

Stephenson's Rocket will support this.

It looks like the installer is not fully automated, in Virtualbox it asked me to pick a place to install the bootloader. The post_logon.sh script also seems to get stuck. Might be specific to Virtualbox, I'll try it on real hardware later on.

I had post_logon problems in VMware. Just about to boot on real tin

Gedit doesn't instal, python3-cairo is missing from the repo.

Looks like the bootloader thing is a BIOS issue - I didn't get it in my EFI VMware, but did on BIOS tin.

post_logon is running fine on tin, so seems to be an issue in virtualization which affects both vmware and vbox - we will investigate

I tested some package installations, the following packages install just fine:

bash-completion
file-roller
git
iotop
openssh-server
pastebinit
zip
unzip
screen
p7zip-full (required for file-roller)

The following packages don't install:
gedit (like mentioned above)
build-essential (the libc6-dev, libc-dev and g++4.9 seem to be missing)
lsof (libperl4-corelibs-perl is missing)
