Civ Game X: Cho-Ku-Nus, Rage-Quitting, and Marble City

The boys return to Civ to complete our tenth game as a crew. The college boys reunited to to play the very game we all love (and hate) to play.

It started out rather well for Ethan, who's new strategies allowed him to excel in the early game really quickly, as he rose to the top of the leaderboards and science to dominate most of the game.

Dalek and Nevlo, in the meantime, were just enjoying life as neighbors, as they both cruised through the game making trades and taking names (names being barbarians of course.) Around halfway through the game, Dalek established a city on a single-tile of marble in the bay where Kraken was, and he created the trade haven of Marble City. It was a beautiful city, which ended up producing a Great Scientist, which made it even better in the end.

War started off early on in the game with Kraken getting fed up over Ethan's antics, and Kraken went in to try to get some early game advantage over power. However, Ethan was playing China, and China has Cho-ku-nus, who are crossbowmen who can fire multiple times a turn. AKA, they are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ broken, as China is as a civ. Ethan quickly ended Kraken as a threat, as Kraken spent the rest of the game doing math equations to see how much damage that unit will do when upgraded into a gatling gun. Spoiler: It deals a lotta damage.

The game hit its climax when Dalek invaded Ethan after 100s of turns of non-stop aggression and bragging from the latter. It was a hotly contested war, with Dalek inching towards Ethan's second city with each turn. However, the tides changed in the war when Nevlo invaded Ethan's capital. Nevlo quickly dispatched of Ethan (rather surprisingly considering the science difference), and Ethan rage quit and corrupted the game. The game ended in a draw, because honestly, anyone could've still won (Dalek didn't clinch the game winner yet, Ethan).

Civ Game IX: Triggered Daleks

After many months waiting, and many games going unfinished, we finished our ninth Civ game as a group. I mean we kinda finished the game, it did take us 2 weeks to play, which has been the longest we have played one Civ game, so we all just agreed on a winner at the end.

The game started out with 5 of us on three different continents. Megan and Dalek shared a continent, and Ethan was in a small landmass next to us. Kraken and NevLo both had their own contients respectively.

The early and mid games were very peaceful for all of us. Well, almost all of us. Kraken, who won the last Civ game, was having terrible barbarian problems and he had a struggling economy early on. Once Dalek discovered his lands, he invested a lot of gold and resources in helping his old rival get back into the game. Kraken went from 0 science from turn 150 to being a contender in the game in a matter of 100 turns after Dalek helped.

Garrett was playing Rome for the first half of the game with Ethan assisting him. At one point when Dalek tricked Garrett into invading NevLo, Ethan decided to take over from his helpless brother, and he dedicated the rest of the game to annoying Dalek. He spent thousands of gold to take away Dalek's city state allies, which began the triggering that would ultimately ruin the game.

Once everyone hit the modern era, and the threat of Ethan loomed over Dalek's lands, an alliance was made between everyone else to destroy Ethan. It was the only war in the game and it was...kinda good, I guess. Dalek ♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with some submarines. Megan fought Ethan's closest city state allies, and Christian decided to go head on and actually attack Ethan's cities. The problem was, once Ethan got uranium (which he had 3 tiles of in his empire btw), he started nuking everyone left right and center until he triggered Dalek and Megan so much that his Civ crashed and everyone decided that Dalek won the game.

In the end, everyone's learned to kill Ethan ASAP next game.
