So...why not put in the tiny bit of extra effort and instead make it something players have to opt into or the people have to be on their friends list to see their decks? Like there are better options than "Because a handful of people are asshats we've taken the option away from everybody"

Multitude of reasons. When making games, we try to focus effort on stuff that most players will use and see. In simple terms, if the dev team has a week of time and in that week they can implement a feature that almost every player will use or a feature that some players will use, the dev team should focus on the feature that will improve the experience for the largest number of players.

Adding UI for seeing other players' cards is more than a bit of work. These cards must be clearly visible even on a small screen (or the game will lose Steam Deck verification). The UI must be navigable with controllers, players have to be selectable, and so on.

It wasn't an easy decision since we know some parties would enjoy carefully planning their every move in a non-toxic way. And for that option to peek at others' cards would be great. When testing, it didn't play out like that at all, sadly.

OK, Danke dir. Damit hätte ich nun echt nicht gerechnet. Immerhin startet das Game jetzt. Wenn ich nun noch die Maus zur Mitarbeit bewegt bekomme, steht einer Partie nichts mehr im Wege :-)

Lol anyone who gave a clown to this post is clown itself lol. Secure Boot was invented a long time ago for SECURE REASONS! It was made for such purposes so it would be hard for viruses to pass, but the same applies for hacking software like cheats.
