The one complaint shared by the sensible majority was the retroactive retcon, not the presence of female Custodes themselves.

There is a genuine possibility of female Astartes being re-introduced to the franchise after they were initially pulled in 1987 due to a lack of sales. Genuinely no other reason than logistics.

I often wonder why it is always the crowd that have never read any of the actual books, do not actually play the table-top as well, who think they're in the position to gatekeep a franchise they worship only when it's skin-deep? The same crowd who threaten to 3D print their models in an effort to bypass giving royalties to GW (you still have to give Royalties, it's generally through a third party selling the schems for the 3D model). This is the denominator of what a tourist actually is, fyi.

Re-quoting an old post I make which just helps you realise the false equivalence and logical fallacy vehemently displayed in OP's post. There's only two people being abhorrently toxic in this thread, the exact type of community members GW disavowed publicly years ago:

Have Belisarius complete the addendum to the gene-seed to make it compatible like Malcador suggested and open the recruitment pool. Narratively, that makes a lot of sense due to the absurd mortality rate in creating Astartes, even more so with Primaris, and they desperately need the numbers now. The Imperium is losing, Guilliman and the Lion can only do so much.

Logistically, we know that at the time the only reason Female Space Marines were discontinued was due to the lack of sales in their original launch back in 1987 (as confirmed by a GW OG, Alan Merrett (former game designer, Black Library Author, and was in charge of Golden Demon Awards, along with being head of intellectual property 'til 2016 - Merett was one of the big boys of GW)),

So, the chances of female Astartes being re-introduced is a possibility now, given the female Custodes were received by largely a positive reception with others being indifferent (as shown by GW's expansion into the US following their rise in stock value) and a loud screaming minority.

The general complaint of those who actually wanted to hold a sensible discussion is that GW had to retroactively retcon lore, and their wording of 'There have always been female Custodes'(/sp) was poorly received and misinterpreted as they were referencing the actual Lore itself, not that they 'always' had female Custodes in the material. (Ala the screaming minority going 'You're gaslighting me!', when really it's down to a matter of poor communication on GW's behalf and poor media literacy from the latter).

And I know there's at least one or two users on here who will scream 'Female Custodes were retconned!'—this goes to them. They were not retconned. Grifters were coping hard on the wording found in The Ultimate Guide to Warhammer 40K book, to which the author - Guy Haley - who is also a veteran Black Library author, shot down the Grifter gripe by saying Female Custodes are still very much canon and in his own words, the Grifters are 'Media Illiterate'.

It's just weird sweaty gamers being mad that women get to have the same cool space knights as them (i.e custodes). I hope they make female space marines just so that smegma-bags like this living Cheeto are made uncomfortable by it.
