Hi, yes, the version from high seas is at least 1 or 2 version behind if I remember correctly and the game worked perfectly , you can die more times without imlacting the gameplay

You can, I have, it is just a lot slower than using the caravan.

The caravan is a massive QOL bump and it vastly increases your travel speeds from place to place.

The map size has not changed since city of gold, so playing without the caravan is no different then back then, with the exception that raw food is not as good, so you'll have to cook along the way, but that can be done without too much trouble, even without the caravan.
