I think hikimoko works at Blackburne Games Studio, or somehow associated with that studio. All the games they recommended were published by the same company. Although they have deleted posts, some players quoted their replies, example.

So pretty much half of y’all don’t know what it’s like to have to play a game on basically hardcore mode where there is no save and you just gotta go through it with skill and be on beast mode. 90s kids stand up, good times indeed!

right? they say that like we all enjoyed doing that. Once we got to the point we could start saving our game progress, we never looked back. Only a small handful of people liked it that way.

Okay, your game didn't become a huge hit. You stopped releasing updates for it. But I honestly don't understand why you would remove it from digital stores. If you're giving up potential profits this way, why not make the game free? What's the problem? We already had an example of such a game. When PUBG was paid, it was flooded with cheaters and bots, but by making it free, the developer saved the game from collapse. You left the servers running. People can still play. You could just give old players some kind of skin and a seasonal pass as a token of gratitude for their loyalty, and make the game free for new players. Maybe that way people would come to the game. In any case, the average player can only wait for the message “game servers are no longer available.”
